I mean that's still just silly. You've made no point and no one cares..

As a Leafs fan.. they have every right to cheer or boo former player. Yes they didnt cheer him so? The atmosphere was amazing in the building and Tavares handled it like a pro. they needed to let him know their feelings and they did it. Great game for Isles, move on, learn from mistakes and trust the process.

I care. Actually, I'm kinda wondering how this affects the players in the future. Are free agents going to want to play for that crowd? Will players be more open about their thoughts as they approach free agency, or less open? I'll be keeping an eye out for some kind of Tavares effect.

Yes but no. That kind of a crowd is one that would fun to be on the good side of. Also, Tavares is a much different case then most UFAs. He was their franchise center and 1st overall pick who said that he wanted to sign with them so he wasn’t traded, then signed with a conference rival for about the same as was offered him by the Isles and and left his former team with nothing. That’s rough. A big name UFA isn’t and will never be in that position. Could you imagine if Matthews at the end of his contract told the Leafs that he wanted to resign, then jumped ship in free agency to sign with the Rangers or Capitals? Ouch. The Leafs fans would hate him for it, but that wouldn’t stop anyone from signing with them. Plus, the Isles are a top 2 division team with a team built for the future and a ton of money to spend. I doubt this affects them at all. Good grief, Toronto and the Rangers have been known to boo their own players but it hasn’t stopped them from signing free agents.

Well, Panarin told everyone he's going to free agency. He never said he's leaving CBJ, but he said he's going to free agency, and then he'll decide where to sign.

He had the right to sign with the Leafs in free agency. He made his own decision, and he had every right to do that. Isles fans also had every right to boo him. Do i agree with them booing him? No. If i was at the game, I would have cheered him. But they still had every right to make their own decision of whether to boo him or cheer him. Just like JT's decision. He could do what he wanted, whether it was staying in NY or signing in Toronto. And it turns out he signed in Toronto and he got booed by the Islanders fans. I still think the fans should have thought more about how much he did for the team, and less about that he left the team. He said he wanted to stay with the Islanders, and then they fired their coach, and they fired their GM. So, who knows? Maybe that changed something. The fans had every right to boo him, just like he had every right to leave. I still disagree with the fans booing him. Tavares's dream was to play for the Leafs, and Isles fans' dreams were not booing JT in his return to NYI, lol.

Yes. The thing that happened what Ive heard was that Snow wanted him to stay for playoffs and he did and after that he was going to sign with Isles and not even talk to other teams but Pat Brisson his agent convinced him to try to talk to teams and he did. Leafs made fantastic offer and he accepted. As much as he had choice to leave NYI, that much they could boo him. They have every right to do so. Its fair deal for both sides and its after that. Im happy that Isles won even.. if Leafs wouldve won and god forbit JT scored.. they would be throwing things right at him and it would get messy. Isles won fair and square. A lot to learn from in this game.
