Nothing. You don't trade top line wingers for decent top 4 Dmen. Ask Edmonton how that works out.

@Goulet is absolutely right. Would think a young forward coming back. Foegele or necas.

Do you not read the posts? Nylander is obviously worth more, hence Nylander > Pesce. Hall for Larsen wouldn’t have worked fine for the oilers if extra pieces had gone with Larsen. I’m just wondering what else canes fans would offer with pesce

Are you saying
Leafs trade Nylander brown Zaitsev for 50% pesce
Then sign Panarin?

Not how I would do things but interesting

Kadri, Brown, and Hyman can all go along with Zaitsev. 13.35M to play with along with whatever assets they return.

Nylander improves the third line which improves the team defense and whomever Kadri+ brings back, which would be Pesce at minimum, that improves the backend too.

That trade is even as is.

Nylander might be a slightly better player...very slightly, but pesce has the far better contract

We agree there I actually love Kadri but he ends up being underutilized and therefor overpaid on the leafs. What about kap for pesce thoughts on value differences?

You think Nylander for pesce is fair straight up?
What about Kadri? Any interest in him for pesce?

I think Necas is probably a non starter for the Canes.

No he doesn't.

People drastically over-value Pesce ... does he have high offensive upside? (No).

So he's basically reached his potential unless he becomes the best defender in the league.

And he plays on an all star caliber d-core which makes him look better.

Similar to how Hyman looks great playing with Tavares / Marner.

I disagree with your opinion. Here’s something you’ll disagree with....Nylander is not a special player, just a solid second liner

Leafs need to shred cap. IMO Nylander for Pesce is fair trade....Leafs save 3m cap space of about the 9m they need to shred.
If Marleau doesn't retire, Nylander might have be traded for his 7m cap relief and maybe just prospects or picks coming back to the Leafs.

Pesce plus Julien Gauthier for Nylander and maybe Bracco. Leafs need a big kid with hands and some Jam.

Yeah solid second liners get 60+ points in their first two seasons all the time ... especially at 19 and 20 years old.

Leafs don't need cap space .... Gardiner, Hainsey and Brown can go .... that's all that's needed.

No need to trade Nylander.

No need to trade Nylander for a much less talented player.

Do the math. If Kapanen, Johnsson, Marner are to remain Leafs...Leafs are way over cap for next year. It's a given that Gardiner and Hainsey are gone.
