Arizona really has no use for Glendening and Detroit can get at least a 3rd for him.

I like the trade with TB but there is no chance of them giving up their best D prospect for Green who most likely retire at the end of next season.

Buffalo would probably agree to this but Detroit would never offer this. Detroit is rebuilding and they know the only way to rebuild is through the draft so they aren't going to trade away picks for a goalie with no NHL experience. Hirose's play at the end of the year might have earned him a spot on the Wings he was very impressive so trading him as part of a deal that only benefits buffalo isn't going to happen. Bernier has 2 more seasons at $3M per. That is a bargain for the way he played last season. Howard just signed a 1yr deal with Detroit he was one of Detroits best players last season. With the goalies they want wrapped up for next season and the fact that they won't be a contender next season there is no rush to go out and goalie right ow. Plus Rybar was one of the best goalies in the AHL this season.

The Chicago trade I know Detroit wouldn't accept this trade due to their log jam at D, but I'm not sure about Chicago. They have some good D prospects in their system and I know they one Jokiharju who should make the team right out of training camp. Even if all Chicago's D prospects are ready to play they still need some vets to stabilize things. Ideally that would be Gustafsson and Murphy. While trying to move Keith and Seabrook the oldest and most expensive D on their roster. Now as a Detroit fan I don't follow the Hawks that closely and this is just what makes sense to me.

Buffalo laughs so hard at that offer. UPL is putting up Carter Hart numbers rn and he could be an elite goaltender, one unproven NCAA forward, worst goalie in the league and scrap picks doesnt do it. To get Botterill thinking about it, it takes Larkin or Veleno, Hronek and a 3rd or so

Well that works out well then. As a Detroit fan I think this offer (not mine) is a huge over payment for a goalie who has no NHL experience.

Hopsalot97, neither team likes this trade

It's called facts? Glendening is worth more then a 4th, Weren't dealing Hirose the kid is the real deal. And weren't dealing McIsaac either unless it's for Trouba.

My first thought was the Sabres say no. Then as aedoran said Hirose looked really good in DET and his last year in college. Then I looked at the 2 second round picks which will be nearly 3rd round picks I said no! So my final assessment is that you are both correct, Detroit would not make this offer for a GK who has not played an NHL game, and Betterall would want "a lot" more to pry UPL from his cold dead hands. Time will tell, but UPL looks as he could be the next Matt Murray or Jordan Binnington.

Luukkonen led Finland to Gold at the World Junior Championship. He registered a league-wide best save percentage with .921, taking a team that finished dead last the previous year into the playoffs, now sitting as the fourth best team in the entire league. Luukkonen has cemented himself as a top five goaltending prospect in the league right now. https://dobberprospects.com/player/ukko-pekka-luukonen/

Hirose is not scraps, he looks like a really good prospect. How he got to free agency with so many 7th round picks being nothing is beyond any comprehension.

Ok but the point I was making is Detroit doesn't need to move Hirose and 2 draft picks to get a goalie right now. In my opinion is to much to give up for a goalie with no NHL experience. I did watch most of that tournament yes he was good. But that doesn't mean he is automatically going to be a NHL star. Their plenty of goalies who never lived up to their hype Detroit's backup Beriner is one. Then you have: DiPietro, Montoya, Leclaire, Toivonen and my favorite McCollum a can't miss pick Detroit's goalie of the future.
