Additional Details:
This trade makes sense for both sides as we all know Nashville will be wanting to trade one DMAN for a young winger since Donte Fabbro signed. He's a LHD and will replace Ekholm.
So there DCORE would look like:
Josi-Subban or Ellis
Fabbro- Subban or Ellis
And that is still nasty of a dcore

I tell what is nasty, is expecting San Jose is going to take a 6.25m cap hit of Marleau.

Marner is in the range. Those are just Depth D and a forward for depth for a year. It doesn't matter

IDK seems somewhat realistic.
The Marleau move is the only one that likely doesn't pan out, at least without TO taking on some salary or a bigger contract back.
Too big of an anchor.

Nashville will move Ellis or Subban before they move Ekholm or Josi, because Fabbaro is right handed like Subban and Ellis are while Josi and Ekholm are both left handed.

I can't see Marleau going back to San Jose but just for arguments sake this is what would have to happen for it to even to a possibility.
-Karlsson leaves
-Pavelski leaves
-Leafs retain 50%
-Leafs add a draft pick better than the one they receive

Marleau's game being built on speed is degrading faster than Thornton, Chara, or any other older guy in the league. His production will take another hit next year and San Jose doesn't need a veteran pro to father their prospects. Marleau is one of my all time favorite players and even I don't care to see him back at this point in his career, Sharks are old enough.

So the whole idea of the Ekholm trade is that Fabbro is a LHD who will take his place, but Fabbro is a RHD...

Yeah I assumed so, and saw your other comment. I think your other evaluations are accurate but I think Marner gets 8 years 80 million max. He is obviously elite but I think the Leafs are the victim of the media over hyping their players, similar to Nylander. I assume he gets a deal comparable to Mikko Rantanen and KD will wait until that happens and use it as a comparable.

Taking on Marleau's cap hit would preclude signing Karlsson. I've done the math. Remember that the Sharks have to re-sign Timo Meier and Kevin LaBanc, and after Marleau's $6.25M, they would have approximately $19M below a $83M cap to sign those two and fill five other roster slots.

Vancouver decline, Why does Vancouver need to make this trade how does this improve their team? they have enough 5-10 goal scorers on there team. Virtanen is finally taking steps to becoming a 20 goals scorer who can play anywhere in your lineup and provide physicality. Virtanen >>> Brown

The vancouver trade makes sense to me because it’s been rumored forever they maybe looking to trade him and Brown could’ve got 15-20 goals and can be a PKer and has a reasonable cap hit.

Marner is not overhyped by any means. He an elite player with great defensive side and is an excellent playmaker and PP and PKer. If he can develop his shot over the offseason that takes him to a whole different level. Trust me I would love for him to sign a 10X8 but I just don’t see it my opinion though. On Nylander though yes I agree I think he is overhyped but maybe if he’s back next year he will be better

Virtanen name was never in a rumor for Brown, if they move Virtanen it will be for a dman, Virtanen >>> Brown, Vancouver has spent a lot of time developing Virtanen and they are not trading him away for a player that is worse than him. Media putting out fake news, Travis Green and Jim Benning like how Virtanen game is developing and he should take another step next season expect 20-25 goals with a lot of hits.

Im just putting out a trade that makes in my mind for it. Im taking Brown over Virtanen. Brown was a victim of a team with a lot of depth and was put on the 4th line because of depth. He was on the 3rd line last year and got 20 goals. It was rumors but you don’t know what is true. Maybe it’s just there thoughts they wanna move him but inside of the organization they actually dont. Who knows

Virtanen had 15 goals while not even playing a full season playing with Sutter and Beagle mostly lol, Virtanen also provides physicality that Brown doesn't. Brown is the better PKer i'll give you that but overall Virtanen is a better player than Brown and his game is still improving.
