Detroit should retain a little over $1M for that deal. Each team is on the hook for $4M in salary

I'd be cool with that

I've never been a real big komarov fan but to shed 2.25 in salary I dont think it's a bad deal. Nielsen is still a very solid 3C but is pricy for that role. I thi

(habs fan here) Trading tatar (LW) for Leddy (LHD) is a perfect fit for MTL in term of needs.
The only thing Tatar has a good contract and played a season has a legit top 6 winger in any team
I did not follow the NYR, but in terms of pts, Leddy looks like he played a bad season (base on his standard) ? May I have your thoughts on what a guy like Leddy can bring to MTL and why you "can trade him"
As for MTL, Domi and Drouin could be our top LW to solve Tatar departure

I'd rather give a 3rd rd pick + for a team to take komarov and his contract.

Not a NYI fan myself, but from what I've heard the problem with Leddy is basically that he's a full on offensive D, kinda like Gardiner or Ristolainen, and since NYI is a defense-first team Leddy doesn't exactly fit.

As for what he can bring to MTL is just that - offense help. He could form a scary pair with Weber or Petry.

It's an option. "Bad" contract swap might be a better one, as it might be benificial both ways. Nielsen could be a great 3C for NYI, Komarov brings great physicality for DET.

Who's gonna take Komarov for only a 3rd? Probably gonna take more than that.

One bad contract of a 3rd line C for another of a 4th line checker of the same term left. Both with limited NTC. 2.25M savings for the Wings.

Probably wait for a better deal or pay a 3rd for Seattle to take him.

As a Detroit fan I wouldn't mind the trade. Komarov's buy out is a lot better and since there is no sentimental attachment to Wings maybe they would actually buy him out. Like they should've done with Ericsson 3 years ago.

Nielsen is not good. We shouldn't be adding on more salary for nostalgia.

Neither is Komarov. Nielsen is hitting 30-40 points pretty constantly. Decent 3C in many teams of the league, albeit a tad expensive.

You get the better player but need to pay a tad more.

I never said Komarov doesn't suck. He does suck, but he plays a role and I'd rather keep him at less salary than add Frans. I never liked him, never got the love affair Islander fans had with him.
