Buddy, I got news for you. Brassard no longer plays for the Pens.

I was looking at stats from last year not now...

Because i don't think he's any worse than most people think he is.

As a Penguins fan, I agree. He's good at driving possession, forechecking and stick handling, like Simon but he didn't score enough to earn the people's amusement.

I see. Well, personally I don't think Brassard was overrated in his prime. Of course he never lived up to the expectation of a top 10 draft pick but was still a solid player.

@rangersandislesfan What was your opinion on Derick Brassard? Didn't he play on the top line with Zuccarello and Nash?

This isn't supposed to be mean or anything but I wrote Dubinsky as over rated for last year, how long till he retires?

He was a 20 goal scorer, which is not great for a first-line centre to be honest. But that was in the tall dead tree defensive hockey era and the Rangers were a dominant team.

What level would you say Laine, Risto, and Subban are? Basically everyone says they're overrated.

Laine just needs to be more consistent, but he lacks in skating, defensive awareness and passing. Risto is bad at defense, but has good offensive awareness and has a good first pass. Subban is mediocre defensively, bad offensively and slow, He's a great player for the community and marketing but his play dropped off significantly after being traded from Montreal

I'd say Subban is underrated. Most people see him as a 2nd pairing guy, am i wrong?

Isn't the whole point that these players are overrated? If you think Risto is a 2nd pairing d-man then he's not overrated lol.

RAIF, for the last time just because a handful of people agree on the overrated/underrated status of a player doesn't mean that they are not overrated/underrated. There are millions more hockey fans out there than the 20-30 that comment in the CapFriendly forums.

Unless you think he's like a 3rd pairing d-man or something then you can't really call him overrated.

how? if the sabres are rating him as a 1st pairing dman, he is overrated. If MULTIPLE people are saying Risto is a 1st pairing Dman, I am not the one overrating him. I am saying he is being overrated.

If the team thinks he's a top pairing guy, then that doesn't mean enough. That's a few of his coaches and that's it. Way more people say he's 2nd pair.

Exactly what i'm saying. It's not all about his contract. I'm not going to say Tyler Myers is overrated because he signed for 6M ... overrated by the team, but most fans were unhappy about the contract and the overall opinion is that it wasn't a good contract. I don't see Subban as a 2nd pairing d-man while lots of people do. That's why i think he's underrated.

If you watched him in Nashville you'd see how slow he is to get back or try to negate a rush. Once he left Montreal we saw a huge drop off in his overall play, making him overrated now.

But most people aren't supposed to agree on who is overrated or underrated.
