Are you Fu*king high, Rakell>>>>>>>>>>>>>Risto, and ANA doesn't need Risto (Fowler is their 2RD almost guaranteed) and they certainly aren't giving up the future face of their franchise+ for a guy who'll be on the bottom pair for them, and stunt whoever he's pair with's development bc they'll have to cover for him the entire game instead of learning the ropes of the NHL and being allowed to make a mistake and not give up a goal because of it bc they're d partner doesn't actually play defense, why I think the Hakanpaa signing was genius on their part, but that's not the pick of this, and in top of Risto you expect them to give up a 3rd round pick which if this happens will probably be the first pick of the third round, and you're only giving back a bottom 6er who A. ANA has ZERO use for, they already have WAY too many middle/bottom 6ers, and most of them would be ahead of E-Rod bc they're better or ANA would want them to develop correctly, so he'd probably end up on waivers, so it's ANA's best/most valuable forward, oh and they lack top end talent so it makes perfect sense to trade away some top end talent for spare parts right, and a late second for a third pairing d man that will hurt the team in the long run and a guy that would probably be put on waivers by the ducks, not to mention the fact that Rakell has one of the best contracts in the league

Fans expectations are ridiculous. Expect Ristolainen playing 3rd pairing with Scandella.

Duck fans are grossly overestimating rakells value as is buffalo view on risto. I'm sure not saying this trade would go through but to say rakell is the face of your franchise is laughable and to say risto is a bottom pair d man is a joke he is a top 4 pair who's usage should absolutely be altered but in no means is he a bottom pair. He has been hampered by misusage and poor linemates. His value is right around and 2nd line forward period. People gotta stop over valuing people on their own team. Yikes

You’re right. Gibson is the face of the ducks. But Rakell is one of their 3 top assets. Risto on the other hand isn’t even apart of his current team’s future plans as shown by the acquisitions of Montour, Miller, and Jokiharju. He’s also not good at 5 on 5. If you’re blaming his usage or D partners then he’s just not good. He’s basically a PP QB. And he makes $5.4M for 3 more seasons. If he were a top 4 RD why’d they bring in 3 potential guys to take his spot? Not to mention we’ve seen a couple better RD get moved this offseason that didn’t bring back near this return, Trouba and Subban.

Agree with most of what your saying except trouba was an rfa that needed to be signed and subban is exiting his prime. Risto is cost controlled for 3 more years and is in/entering is prime. Risto is not a great puck mover but is a good skater and physical defenseman. If you watched any games his best performances came when he was paired with pilut who was an above average puck mover and risto looked good. If risto was on any other team then the sabres he would get a lot of love
