What Would Matthews to Arizona Be Like

Created by: leaflet
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 18, 2019
Published: Aug. 18, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The return for Matthews would be huge. Like, an overpayment, probably more than what I mentioned below.

But I ask the question: What would be the possible return for him in an Arizona trade?

1 for 1 Matthews for Kessel is the correct answer

Only reason Leafs would trade Matthews is for cap reasons. And Arizona is close to the cap. Chychrum, and Keller. IMO Matthews really doesn't have a desire to play for Arizona.

I think he doesn't really have a desire to play for the Leafs but time will tell I guess.

I think that the return from Arizona would be whoever the leafs want. Since Arizona would have to fold the franchise. Does no one even bother to look at mathews salary structure?

I hear that a lot but I don’t understand why. He was willing to sign an 8yr deal with Toronto.

I'll be honest when I see Matthew's against Boston, I'm not impressed. Marner on the other hand continues to impress me more each time I see him play.

Playoff wise Matthew's had a good stat line, but I thought he was invisible most of the series and relied on his teammates to create for him. Idk as an outside if I could only have one of the two, I want Marner.

Of course this is just speculation, but Matthews could also save that franchise, bringing some much needed hype to the team as a local superstar. Not saying I hope this happens, but just saying...

It depends who initiated the trade and the reason for the trade.

Yes because the aav didn’t work for the leafs cap structure. So how does your comment mean anything?

Again what franchise? Arizona doesn’t have that type of money July 1st. Look at his contract!!!

I’m not going to argue your opinion. They’re both great players. Thinking that kapanen and Johnsson we’re creating all of Matthews offence I will certainly disagree with though.

If I had to choose between the 2 I would dump Marner in a heartbeat, Matthews is one of the best players in the league and Marner not even the best player on his line...

I'm not sure if Matthews could save the franchise. When the Leafs play their one game a year in Arizona, the arena isn't full. And the attendees, it's Leaf fans...snowbirds, not Arizona residents wanting to see their hometown boy.

Don't think you wants to play for Babcock....And I don't blame him. Babcock is deterrent to the Leafs.

That could be. But I don’t see Babcock lasting long. From what I have read the two actually get along much better than speculated but as usual... it’s not like they’re going to express a riff to the media.

Babcock in four years. Money or wasting it is common for MLSE, and Babcock has front loaded contract. Next April or May is the last day of Leaf employment for Babcock IMO. Not because of Matthews, due to Babcock incompetence as a head coach.
