it caters to both teams needs imo. the ducks have steel to come in and potentially replace Henrique as their second line center and Laine would help with their scoring, while winnipeg gets a second line center that they keep getting via rentals (Hayes/Stastny) who will be there for a while, and they get a potential top 4 d

No, you don't understand how this works. It is Anaheim who is listening to Winnipeg, not the other way around. Only Winnipeg would have initiated discussions about Laine, a player they are obviously having trouble signing.

The proposed trade isn't terrible for the Ducks, and Winnipeg is in a very bad position with Laine. I can see Kase plus Sprong plus Larsson or Mahura as a reasonable return for a guy who, like Jacob Trouba, wanted out of Winnipeg the moment the season was over.

We don't have four top defenders, by the way. We have Fowler, Lindholm and Manson, and after that, it gets scary.

If there a non match the discution stop. Winnipeg right now have all the leverage since laine as 5 more years of Rfa. This is how it work. Chevy don’t call every gm to listen to their bullshat proposal (and bon murray wouldn’t ever propose such a poor return he would loose all is credibility around the league)

It's like the old joke about the fox chasing the rabbit -- the fox would like to catch the rabbit, but the rabbit has to survive. Winnipeg obviously feels the need to move Laine; Anaheim's roster is set with the exception of RD. And Kase, Sprong, Guhle, Larsson, Lundestrom, Mahura, etc. (the names being bandied about in realistic posts) are not scraps; they are legitimate NHL roster players or A-level prospects. (Some have Mahura ahead of Larsson.)

Laine is way overrated. Especially by WPG fans. And don't forget it's only his RFA rights

I'm not sure how good of a fit Laine is for the ducks (assets wise, obv he would fill the ducks biggest need) bc the Jets needs are defense and a 2C, and to get lindholm the Jets would have to add to Laine, something I don't think they'd be willing to do, a Manson deal could be worked around, but I think Manson is unmovable from the ducks prospective, due to lack of RHD, and a deal around Fowler could be worked (with ANA adding a good bit obv) but WPG would almost have to ask for a 2C with him (steel or Henrique) and ANA isn't moving Steel for almost anything, and WPG would rather just sign Laine than take Henrique and Fowler, the only trade I could see working is either Fowler+Guhle/Mahura/Larson (all of which are NHL ready d men imo)+, but that doesn't really work bc it would be ANA trading out one of the few guys that can play RD on the team OR Rakell/Kase+, BUT that doesn't really fit a need for WPG and it moves one of the pieces ANA is building around for the future, i guess a Henrique+d man could work, but ehhhh, WPG would ask for another roster player, but who would ANA give... Ritchie...? And some of picks/specs, but then you get to the quality>quantity issue
