I mean as a Jets fan, I don't blame them at all.

I'd love to see Dubas give him an ultimatum.

This RFA bs is annoying at this point.

LMAO I didn't realize that! Leafs offered $11M and he declined? Is that actually fact or just random media speculation trying to stir the pot?

Dubas won't trade him. He'll use his Air Canada Miles to send him to Switzerland himself.

If you havent figured out yet that this whole RFA holdout thing isnt about the money but about term, then idk what to tell you. There is zero chance Marner will get 5 or 4 years since 4 will walk him directly to UFA (7th year) and 5 will put the leafs in the same boat as this year but Nylander included. 3 is risky since he can just go to arbitration for a 1 year deal to get UFA. Since he wont sogn for 7 or 8 Dubas will likely fold to 6 years. Which Marner would probably be ok with. Doesnt risk too much devotion if the team falls apart.

Because we're starting to realise just how stubborn Ferris is being here. It's becoming apparent that this isn't about getting paid fairly, it's about satisfying his, Paul Marner's and maybe even Mitch's egos.

If he agrees to sign for 8 years Dubas would probably give it to him and make room around it. On a 5 year deal, no chance.

Nope. He wants Matthews' contract, or a bridge deal with a high QO to make him a free agent as soon as possible. If he were being reasonable about signing, he'd take 6x9.75 gladly.

Yep. Apparently an 11/7 and a 9/3 have been on the table since June. According to Bob Mackenzie the Marner camp is put off by that because it's less aav than AM.

It's starting to seem like gr 4 politics at the playground. Pure pettiness from Marner, imo. And if I was Dubas I'd be entertaining all trade offers at this point. No one wants or needs to deal with that kind of dysfunction. It just isn't healthy for team dynamics

Of course, 30 other gms likely aren't too enthused about trading for this primary donna drama either..

At the end of the day, this all about Mitch. Ferris works for him after all.

If there is anything that bothers me about this drama its a) the media coverage and b) this ridiculous idea that Marner is somehow being disrespected and being victimized. Please..

Whether he likes it out not he is in charge of this mess. I'd say it's time he grows up, grows a pair and takes control of the situation or he'll be saddled with being known as a prima donna moving forward.

I think $9.5M AAV over 3 years would get things done. It's not ideal for anyone, but let's be honest...without Marner the Leafs are going to have a pretty rough time making the playoffs let alone getting out of the first round. Even with him that's not a certainty but the Leafs are a heck of a lot better with Marner then without and Marner and his camp know it. It will be very interesting to see what Colorado and MR work out as that is a very comparable situation IMO moreso then Point and Laine.
