Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Team Explanation
- Its still so early, the leafs are gonna make the playoffs.... Just be glad youre going through the adversity now.

I do find it funny though that all the leaf fans that were over hyping this team in the offseason has completely taken a 180.

The Leafs will be fine. Injury bugs happen to every team. Agreed that (while it's hard to see right now if you're a Leafs fan) it's better to get this stuff out now. Heck, you're getting to learn (even more) about your other players on the team. You already know what Tavares/Marner are going to bring. Giving other guys chances on the PP and pressure packed minutes should theoretically be a good thing in the long run. Nylander's getting a HUGE opportunity here too and taking full advantage of it.

I watched miracle the other day for some reason and was reminded of when Herb Brooks says “I’m not looking for the best players, I’m looking for the right ones.” Leafs have spent too much time looking for the best players. They’re a hodgepodge of 5 all world players 3 or 4 decent players and 10 guys who barely belong in this league. Not a good enough mixture for success in the NHL

Leafs are exactly what they are .. over paid but good top 10 players with probably worst #11 to 20 players in NHL .. recipe for being great on February and out in April .. amazes me any Leafs fan would think differently

10 players that barely belong on the league? I'd like to see this list. That sir, is just wrong.

You are a Tampa fan right? Because it would be awfully hard to argue that your depth is any better than TO's.

Best post I've read on the leafs start to date.

The season isn't lost yet, and things could get turned around still, but even if they don't the current situation does give alot of guys more opportunity, and more importantly, its challenging alot of internal assumptions management and coaching staff might be operating from i.e. do they need to change the way they game plan? Change their systems/structure? Is this the right coach? What holes do they have? Who are the real leaders on the team? Are they gonna roll over? Who steps up? Can they fix their god awful special teams? Is their defensive system even worth defending at this point? Etc etc.

I think it's a great time to ask all those questions and more. And there's no better time to experiment. But if they go all steady on the rudder with this thing I think it's a real lost opportunity.

Bright spots for me so far have been Dermot/Holl, Soupman (on and off) 4c Goat (on and off) Kerfoot before he went to the dentist, seeing AM and Nylander getting their jam back (on and off), and watching AM hit guys last night.. he can do that!?

If he can make that part of his game on a consistent basis he really might come to dominate games on a regular basis. And if he does start to play with an edge it might just inspire the rest of the team to follow suit. And then my dreams of the Goat playing angry might just come true..

The whole thing so far reminds me of the lost season that Tampa had a few seasons back when they were riddled with injuries and they missed the playoffs. Nothing wrong with a little adversity and disappointment. It's usually a good thing in the long run.

I have been saying this for like 2 weeks! It's nice hearing it from a non Leafs fan though.

Eh? You know I'm a leaf fan, Logan. Remember when I came clean the other day? No? Ok, I'll do it again. It really is good therapy .. here goes

Hi everybody. My name is blowing the zone and I am a leafs fan. It's been 52 years since I've last tasted victory...

Ah, nevermind. This is all in my comment history somewhere..

Me too my friend me too. I just don't let the lows get me nor do I let the highs get to me. The truth is always somewhere in the middle. This team will be much better in the near future.

Pffft. This season could really go off the rails still, and in such a way that it makes the 18 wheeler heading off a cliff year look pleasant. I'm not concerned about that, though. This is leafland where leafy things happen.

all in all, no matter how the season unfolds, I still think the leafs are set up really well moving forward.

The best part of not hitting expectations this year is that it almost certainly means that Babcock is done. I think that one move helps more than any trade, draft pick or development program.

Babs is going to get the chance to get them to the playoffs. I bet he has the season no matter what and if they succeed then he may get another year. If not then Keefe will he the coach next year. Either way I don't think they move Keefe up unless they lose their next 6 or something crazy like that. I don't think it'll happen and we'll see TO go on a run soon.

Playoffs will come and then Babs has to shine or he is done. If they are far out of the playoffs I still think Babs lasts the season just because moving Keefe up midseason will negatively affect the Marlies.
