I bet Barzal gets a 2 year deal with 16 million but the second year is 9+ and so his QO in 2 years starts there. He's a star and he'll bet on himself

All depends on what he wants to do. Some intelligent players understand taking less only makes the team better and makes it more fun to go to work. Others ask for way too much and the team suffers and struggles to make ends meet. Maybe he signs a Guentzel team friendly deal. Maybe he wants overpaid like Matthews and marner? Who knows

I think within 2 years he breaks out for a huge season which is why I think he goes for a 2-3 bridge deal. I hate those but I think Lou is too stubborn to think big and give him a major long term deal which would likely have to be 10+ million

Does he outperform Eichle? No. Eichle is signed at 10x8. Marner and Rantanen are very greedy players so I guess it depends on what kind of person Barzal is.

Damn with this cap going up and Barzal "outperforming" Hischier only in points Nicos contract will be a steal. Even though Barzy will get paid the big money bucks and more than Hischiers, his contract should be compareable to Hischiers, considering Nico is an elite defensive centre. Hischier actually has a better on ice shooting percentage as a team when hes on the ice in comparison to Barzal as well. So considering Hischier is making 7.25 I expect Barzal to make 8.5 to put into place his poor defensive capabilities in comparison to Hischier. Now just based on offense probably more but because we are comparing him to an top tier defensive centre in Hischier shouldn't make much more.
