Sharks will make the playoffs

Created by: Bill_Karsen
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2020
Published: Jan. 11, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The team is starting to gel under Boughner. Dell has taken the starting position and has a save % above .913 in five of his last six games. Couture is out but that has ignited Thornton and Kanes game as well as Labanc starting to wake up as well as Burns and Karlsson. They are 9 points behind Calgary for the Pacific wildcard with 36 games to go. They need to add a secondary scoring threat to make a push and there is nothing to lose to do that as we have no 1st round pick this offseason.

I think it’s possible but it’s going to take a lot. I bet we can get strome but if he costs that I’m out

Calgary or Edmonton lose 3 or four in a row, SJ wins 3 or four in a row and the Sharks are right back in it.

Sharks are 8 points out and teams ahead of them, all 9.... have up to 3 games in hand. With TDL approaching they will be sellers.

Dunno where you got that. CGY and EDM have zero games in hand. Vancouver has 2 i guess. Sharks have a game in hand over AZ and Vegas so once again, nice insightful and fully accurate comment. You’re very smart

Please don’t trade away any more first rounders Doug. This team needs to start incorporating young talent and not digging a deeper hole

The Barracuda have had the youngest AHL team two years in a row. San Jose has been very good at cultivating young, undrafted talent. With the rise of Chmelevski and Blichfeld and Merkley coming up i think we’re not too bad. Kellman, Ferraro, Suomela are all playing very well right now

Would be funny if they made the playoffs and got all the breaks like they got in the Vegas series and still lost again.

Nashville, Chicago, Calgary ,Vancouver, Minnesota, Anaheim and Winnipeg all go on losing skids while San Jose catches fire?

Why do people always ignore every team but the ones holding the spot they are looking for? The only team San Jose truly leads, with any breathing room, in the entire west is LA.

Oh hi. Yeah i keep forgetting that giving up four goals on a single power play is a prerequisite in the playoffs. God forbid they kill a penalty. Oh and i also forgot that giving up a 3-1 series lead is also a prerequisite. Got enough salt over there, big guy?

Im not ignorant to the fact they have a hole they need to dig out of. Im just saying that they will do it. If that bothers you, big guy, then i am sorry.

Enough salt for your Kraft Dinners lol
I get it but the Sharks had plenty of chances to win that series that time around.

Doesn’t bother me at all. Just saying they won’t. Just my opinion. Maybe it can be a wake up call to move some contracts.

I admire your optimism. Vancouver is 6 points up with 2 games in hand. Winnipeg is 8 points up with 1 game in hand. Calgary and Edmonton are 9 points up. San Jose has to catch two of those four teams while hoping that Nashville doesn't emerge from the doldrums. And San Jose is behind all 5 in regulation wins.

Look at it another way. San Jose will almost certainly need 96 points to get into the post-season. That means recording 52 points in 36 games -- roughly the rate at which Washington and Boston played over the first half of the season. Does this team look anything like Washington or Boston? And my understanding is that Logan Couture will be out for at least a month.

Good luck. At least you have a better chance than my two crummy teams.

Watching the sharks the last two weeks, they haven’t won every game but they’re improving everywhere and being consistent. Dell has played extremely well. Most the season under DeBoer, theyd fix one issue and another would arise, Boughner has got them to a place where they can fix problems while maintaining consistency across the board.

Meier, Labanc and Burns have been underachieving this season so far, if they can all have a bounceback in the second half then SJ can still manage to get back in the race without Couture. Kane and Thornton have really picked it up in the last two weeks and when Cooch returns itll be a huge boost.

IF they do manage to get back in the race, Doug tends to reward good play with additions, if the sharks can add a secondary scoring threat at the TDL roughly when Cooch returns and Dell continues his strong play then i think the Sharks can do some damage.

I know most will disagree and some will even be jerks about it but i know what my team is capable of as i have watched almost every game since 99!
