Will Sergachev, or Cirelli get offer sheets higher than 4.9 million? Is Rutta worth more than 1.5 million (played surprisingly well)? Who goes? We need to clear 11 million in cap space.

The 22 man roster hasn't been a problem thus far. Although with the amount of injuries they've had, there hasn't been many nights were they have had issues with having health scratches. They've been able to put a sizeable chunk of change on LTIR for most of the season.

Leafs have been ironically lucky with injuries this year

I'd suggest signing Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak to bridge deals. Maybe $3,33M for 3 years for Cirelli (like Johnson), $3,25M for 2 years for Sergachev (like Nurse) and $2,85M for 2 years for Cernak (like Carlo). And do this immediately before the draft in order to prevent offer sheets.

They are all bridge deals which I think is fair for 2020. Cernak at 3 is the same as Carlo 2.875

Tampa has a lot of NTC and NMC to deal with as well.

I wouldn't say that, they have had major injuries this year. How would Tampa do if both McDonough and Hedman missed significant time at the same time? Or if Kucherov missed a month? Or Stamkos 2 weeks, and on top of that Sergachev missing the first month?

TO started with Hyman and Dermott out for the first 20 games or so.

Tavares missed a couple of weeks at the start, then Marner missed a month.

Johnsson missed a month, Mikheyev is gone for the year.

Rielly has been hurting all year and is now out for 2 months.

Muzzin missed 3 weeks.

Moore has missed most of the season.

There are not many teams that can withstand that many injuries and still be close to a playoff spot.

Whats going to happen once they are all healthy? They haven't had a game of that this season.

Pittsburgh is the only team that can say they have weathered as many injuries.

Yeah which means, moving the guys they need to move will be even harder to move! They will have limited teams that will be in the running and many may not want anything to do with those guys. This team is in big trouble. They are also starting to get old. Stamkos, Hedmen, McDonaugh, Palat, Killorn etc will also be pushing into their 30's and will be asked to carry a lineup of ELC's.

I meant in terms of cap compliancy. Obviously major injuries hinder a team. It just seems like every time the leafs would have a fully healthy roster some9ne else making at least a little over league minimum gets hurt. Yes it sucks but so does running a 21 man squad. Wince Toronto is technically 10M over the cap they cant even accrue extra cap space over the year to run that 22nd player.

He and Kuch are the only 5 million plus contracts that do not have NTC next year.

Not just $10M over, but you have Serg and Cirelli taking discounts.

Well its a bridge deal, not discounts, but yeah im sure they wanna lock Serg up long term 8 x 8 ?

exactly everybody seems to only notice the leafs so their contracts, in reality all good teams are close to the cap. and all these bridge deals eventually will come back to be more. its just delaying a much fatter contract, people call marner selfish for taking his deal especially when guys like point, boeser, tkachuk, macavoy etc take less money on a bridge deal but fail tom realize when that contract is up they will be getting the same amount as him if not a bit more due to the possibility of the cap raising.

Palat, Johnson and Gourde have full NTCs. They certainly have no motivation to waive. And Killorn with his M NTC, can make it difficult for Tampa to get much a return for him despite his stellar season.

Cap Hell should mean that a team has expensive pieces that would like to move but can't. Rangers, Tampa and San Jose tops the lists in cap hellishness next season. Then there is a group of about 20 teams who can't sign a UFA they might really want because there cap situation. With RFAs looking like they are making more money than in previous years, it's thrown the cap rules in the a different realm.

US TV deal is coming next year I believe and Seattle expansion will also increase revenue. Meanwhile Point and Tkachuk both have 9 million dollar QO on their final RFA years. Does anyone think they will be team friendly and sign long term deals in the 8 million range? Because they most definitely will not. They are going to get 11-14 depending how high the cap goes. Then TO will look really smart.

Sergechev = McAvoy contract. But I do see him getting an offer sheet at a higher value and taking it. He wants prime time and he sits behind Hedman and McDonah.

Except McAvoy gave BOS a discount.
