An actual plausible realistic deadline cuz they are going for it

Created by: swinny
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 30, 2020
Published: Jan. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If projected deadline cap space is correct.......
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. Kaskisuo, Kasimir
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Real value here is Bracco and the 3rd. Might even be a bit of an overpay, but it's deadline
2.
TOR
  1. Russell, Kris ($1,000,000 retained)
EDM
  1. Ceci, Cody
  2. Timashov, Dmytro
Additional Details:
A reliable D with some term. Buy in for the Oilers is they save $3 million next year against the cap, at a position they are swimming in depth with, and get Timashov - a solid 3rd line option in return. Ceci is a place holder if anything.....

You haven't been watching the Leafs lately if you think Ceci is a "placeholder". He's their top defensive RHD. No reason to think Dermot can suddenly adapt to the right side in February. Beside who wants Russell blocking up the cap next year with his 3m.

Really? They are wasting cash and cap space with Desmith who they waived earlier this season

I would rather Cody Ceci then Russel. Ceci has been playing well and has earned bottom pairing and special teams time. The only way Ceci moves is if its in a deal for say a higher end top pairing guy and his salary needs to move in order to facillitate the trade.

Leafs are a quality D short for next year, hence Russell, who I believe is an upgrade over Ceci. And I believe Russell has played RD before as well.

Ceci has been alright, but the only reason he is the best defensive RD the Leafs have is because he is the ONLY defensive RD they have (no disrespect to Holl).

One thing the Leafs have next year..especially without Russel is cap space to acquire a Dman. Russel is no better than Oilers fourth Dman, but somehow is better than any of the Leafs RHD?

That's a massive overpayment for DeSmith and Russell really adds nothing to Toronto.

Check out this ACGM, it's more realistic and uses some of the same players and gets some of the same in return:

Lol. That doesn't say much when the other right handed d-men are Barrie and Holl. Who are both known for their offensive skills rather than their defensive game

You could not be more wrong about Holl. He's played a defensive role all year

He plays with Muzzin because Muzzin babysits the defensive end so Holl isn't as exposed. If you've watch them this year you'd see Holl's weak defensive game

It's true. I don't think he's a better player but for a good 30-40 games Muzzin has been average om a lot of nights and Holl has had a career year

I've seen dozens of players be high scorers in the junior and never get a sniff of the NHL. An awful time to try to get Dermot up to NHL speed playing the right side. Besides what is darn special about Russell that anyone thinks he is an improvement over Ceci?

He was only on waivers cause of the two other goalies. He would fill a major need but yeah that is a overpayment, could be pried away for cheaper than that.
