there will be 3 potential franchise goalies up for grabs on July 1st, 1 stud prospect goalie available in the draft and at least these 10 teams with serious questions in goal. Who goes where?
I see Markstrom as a great fit in Chicago or New Jersey
Holtby could fit in Carolina or SJ ( if they can get rid of jones)
Lehner I could see staying in Vegas or going to Edmonton
None of those guys are franchise goalies, and Holtby isn't even a starting quality goaltender anymore.
I think he's starting quality, he's not the same elite talent he once was. He's capable of playing games, but not at the same high level he was. He's not gonna win another Vezina, but he's good enough to be a starter
I think Markstrom stays. Holtby and Lehner are more than likely moving.
Does anyone see any goaltender getting a Bobrovsky like contract?
Quoting: AndrewLadd
nope, after that situation i think GMs will stay far away from that type of contract
Wtf was Florida thinking when they signed Bob to that, how is it that Tampa has managed to utilize the state tax bracket to their advantage but the Panthers haven't.

He is a tandem goalie at best these days, and rapidly declining. I honestly feel bad for whichever team pays him in UFA this year.

Idk, I’m not surprised they did it tho, Dale Tallon is an awful GM

Wasn't Tallon the guy that built the Hawks though?
I just don't get it, they knew Bob wanted to go there so why not use that leverage to get him to take less and if he wouldn't tell him to pound sand and figure something else out.

We’ve seen Stanley cup winning GMs be bad on other teams, a la Chairelli. But I’m really not sure why they didn’t, the whole thought process baffles me

Tallon made a tonne of mistakes on that team. They just killed it with Kane and Toews and Keith developed into a top 5 d in his prime.
The sharp trade was also excellent.
Otherwise he made plenty of large screwups.
Huet had to be sent to France. Campbell was an overpay.
He messed up by not giving qualifying offers to his RFAs (Barker and Versteeg iirc)
Essentially they got lucky/smart drafting and got Kane/Toews/Seabrook/Keith plus a great trade for Sharp.
