Refs were hired by Melnyk to make the Isles lose. Unfortunately the refs are unaware, that Melnyk doesn’t exactly deliver on his promises and get them their money

Isles played a great game after the 1st. They really got f*cked. The refs/Toronto need an anatomy lesson on where shoulders are located on the body.

Brind’Amour was shocked and apparently they were drawing up another play because they assumed the goal was coming back. Unreal. Between that and the missed elbow on mayfield before fluerys goal...

i saw the clip. it's definitely controversial, but i think the goal was fair. If Svech batted that immediately into the net it probably would have been called back. Apparently the crossbar rule only applies directly for goals, and otherwise it's the player's shoulder that indicates a high stick whistle.

Yeah I was at the game, they looked great. Even Greiss was solid. It was just that awful call

The league said it was a good goal because “Andrei scecnhnicov stick was below the normal height of his shoulders when he made contact with the puck, which Seems like it was a subjective call because it wasn’t even close. There are many pictures on twitter that clearly show it shouldn’t have been a goal. You can literally draw a 30 degree angle from his shoulder to his stick.

Honestly there are worse calls then this. This actually was freaking close. Svech is leaning forward also you have to remember. If he is standing up straight, that stick shoulder height or less. Its the fact that he lunging that makes it controversial.

Of all the terrible plays out there, this is far from the worst.

Watched a clip of that, was totally high sticking, agree with Islanders fans here even that overpaid bum Ladd, the refs suck!!!

From the video you can't be 100% if it was or wasn't a high stick. The camera angle opposite of the ref it looks like a high stick but camera angle looking at the net it looks like he makes contact right at the crossbar. Look at the position of his stick blade when it makes contact with the puck. He is completely stretched out and it looks like he hits horizontally. The ref was the only person on the ice in position to know for sure and that's why a pinhole camera in the refs helmet makes a lot of sense. I'm not a fan of either team but I do have over 20 years of officiating experience. As I said from the camera angles in that clip you can't tell for sure.

Where is the puck? Can you get the full picture so we can see position of the stick when it contacts the puck. I can swing my stick like I'm chopping down a tree all the way over my head and as long as the puck is even with the crossbar when i make contact its not high sticking. So a picture would have to have the stick hitting puck to be useful.
