A top pairing D along with two of the Wild's top prospects (Beckman is leading the WHL in scoring, outscoring top pick Dylan Cozens) along with potentially a top 10 pick sounds a lot better than two firsts, a 2nd, and a 3rd to me.

I just don't think they say yes no matter what unless you completely outprice them on an offer sheet that gives 4 first-round picks up

It would have to be Kaprizov coming the other way. Brodin is in the final year of his contract (and the Isles have enough LD anyway).

Your trade is prob better than that 2 1sts, a 2nd and 3rd OS. But what you're missing there is that it would be immediately matched by NYI. The only way this gets interesting is if it's the 4 1st threshold.

Barzal can be unhappy with trotz coaching style (not sure there's any truth to that, right now its just speculation), but he doesn't really have a choice. Isles hold his rights for the next 4 years

@tansor you need to consider Islanders needs IMO.

They dont need a D.
I'd think you best exploring a 3 way where Brodin or another D goes to team 3.

I gave them two pretty great prospects here, Beckman is lighting up the WHL. He has far more points than Cozens who is having a great season. Boldy has been on fire the past 15-20 games. Brodin was more of a short-term patch for them but I think you're right that a 3-way trade might make more sense although I'd imagine teams might prefer Dumba since he has term. Do you think the Isles would be looking for a center or a winger?

I am thinking something like this :

Islanders =
Boldy
Kaprizov
1st rounder from Wild
Return from team 3

Wild =
Barzal
Dal Colle

3rd team =
Brodin or Dumba

The idea would be to keep Kaprizov and play him with Barzal, so I wouldn't be too hot on giving him up (I get it though, takes quality to get quality).

I really like Barzal but I dont think he hits his next level with Islanders.
He will not excel in Troz system IMO.

Yep agreed. It's hard to say how he'd perform here with the Wild's coach in question for next season, but according to our beat writer, Guerin has been extremely impressed with Evason and it's possible he hangs onto him. Evason has been giving Fiala pretty much free reign to do his thing and Barzal would likely be able to do the same if Evason is the coach next year.

Kind of crazy that it's even possible guys like Barzal and Eichel could be moved this offseason. I doubt it happens, but the fact it's a possibility is mind-blowing

He's honestly been very good since his first 10 games this year, but since about early January he has been the best Wild player I've ever seen play. Yes, better than Gaborik and better than Granlund. Hopefully he and Kaprizov develop chemistry together because those two could be unreal in a year or two

I thought he would be a 50+ point player but that hasn't happened. @Tansor was I off on expecting 50 points from Kunin?

He's been very good, but I'm honestly not surprised he hasn't been on pace for 50+ points (although he is on pace for 40 which is very good for a 22 year old). Kunin has always been more of a shooter (saw him live at Wisconsin a few times and many times on TV and he was the same way in college) and it's tough to score 50 points being mainly a shooter at 22 years old. He has 15 goals this season but he could easily have over 20, he's had some prime scoring opportunities that have gone high and wide but he's also scored some beauties. Regardless, he's awesome in his own zone and Boudreau and now Evason plays him quite often on the PK.

So then it sounds like he will grow into a 50+ point player. Cool
Btw I think you should go back to your original name.

Probably nothing more than a good 2nd liner, but he brings intangibles. I hope he spends his career here.

Likely, I think a 60 point player that can PK and be deployed in big moments is probably his ceiling. Lol, I think people would be very confused if I did

I feel his next contract should be 3 years @ 2.55 million.

I'd be happy with that, I could also see a similar contract to what Johnsson got last offseason if it's 4 years

Johnsson got that by score 20 goals and AHL MVP.
Better comparison is Bennett I think, similar intangibles there too.
