With Lehner, Holtby, Crawford, Markstrom, Khudobin, Halak on the ufa market this offseason this might be the worst moment to trade a goaltender.

To me, it would seem like a poor time to trade him, even without considering the other options on the market. Follow along with his GSAx from 2014 through present:
+9.5
+7
+18.7
+10.4
+8.4
-10.3 (this year)

I think you have to expect him to get back to his normal, good performance in the contract year. Might get burned trading him.

Too many UFA goalies on the market and other teams with two or 3 goalies needing to trade a goalie before the expansion draft, next year.

Also he is 30 with 1 year left on his deal, leads me to believe they will not get much.

Depending on what kind of moved Dubas is planning for is defense Andersen might have another difficult season. He will probably have a better season since last year was a very bad one but if toronto doesn’t improve their defense they will still allowed a ton’s of goal. Even the best goalie in the world need to play in a structure system to post good number. Just take a look at Carey Price number and their backup number the last 2 season. People are just looking at is stats and say he is bad but the fact is the team defensive structure suck so bad. When the backup have play for them the save pourcentage is under .900 and the goal against is up by 1 goal. Andersen was in a similar situation this year with the Leafs. Even in a down year he was most of the noght the reason the Leafs where winning game.

don't think Andersen has much value all the Free agents coming up......he only has 1 year and will probly walk at the end of his deal as I figure he will get about 7mil on open market and Leafs won't be abke to afford that...he's not a bad goalie....he is just stuck behind lower end defense corp and a team that overall does not play defensive game

GSAx accounts for the quality/quantity/type of shots that goalies face so it levels the playing field among all goalies, so to speak. Look at 2018-19. John Gibson faced the 6th-most shot attempts and the most expected goals against; he led the league in GSAx with 26.9. It is a stat designed to show exactly what you're talking about - how good goalies can have poor GAA or SV% stats despite carrying their team.

I know that stats and i am not the biggest fan of it. Anaheim is well structure defensively and Givson was having a season of the chart. This year number reflect much more what i said before. When a goalie get expose game after game it’s become harder and harder to keep that GSAx over 0. Last year Anaheim was giving a tons of shot but they where in the first tier for the less Grade A chance. ( you probably are familiar with the 3 grade of scoring chance). If a team give 15-20 chance a game but only 2-3 are grade A The goalie benefits from these high amount of chance. A team like Montreal have been one of the best in the league for chance against but in the same time they are in the top 3 team who have allowed the most Grade A chance. This team where allowed 10-12 scoring chance but 7-8 of those where grade a chance. This is a readon why the GSAx is so low. A Goalies who have to make one or two big save per game is more likely to have more success then a goalie who face high danger chance shift after shift.

This is definitely a possibility. Still, I like to use GSAx to look at Andersen and say that he probably won't be a problem in Toronto next year, just based on the few years prior.

No and he wasn’t the problem this year either even if he wasn’t as good as he use to be in prior year. Inhave watch 35-40 Leafs game this year and for most of these game when he was in goal he was really solid facing high end chance in crucial moment. The Leafs was a bad team when he wasn’t in goal. They have use 3 backup and the results was the same without Anderssen.

what is with this trade Freddie talk? He is a good goaltender only issues are the defense in front of him and the fact before he was overworked. Give him a good defense and he will probs amaze more people than he already does. Campbell should help give him more rest which should improve his game. Plus Dubas will probs improve the dcore this offseason which should give freddie some much needed help so he does not have to be the mvp every time they play.

Anderson is not the problem
In Toronto. If you have a defenc were guys like holl play first or second line you can have the best goalie
in the world and will get many goals.Trade one of the big forwards for a top defencmann and the team will look good.

A lot. He is one of the best in the league tbh. Proved to carry team when it doesnt do defensively well. Dont trade him tho.. we need number 1 goalie.
