Not his fault I think, doesn’t seem like he was ever coming back. If he was, they wouldn’t have burned all this money.

I mean unless he can get rid of Allen Bozak Steen and another player pretty much it’s over unless he thinks Dunn is taking a massively cheap bridge deal.

That's a looooot for Scandella IMO. He didnt belong in the NHL in 2018-2019. He was good this past season but.... hes a 30 year old middle pair guy at best. 4 years is long

Blais is worth around 3M in advanced stats look but his injury history is what catches him.

the logical thing to do was sign him 1 year at 900k and then when the cap goes up next year, they sign him longer.

Why would he? I mean, I think he's from the area, but unless he's willing to take a lesser offer like Tavares, it doesn't make sense for him. And when I say lesser, I mean it

People always fail to realize that Petro's wife is from St. Louis and they have three small children. While money talks, it's not always the deciding factor. If Petro walks, that's fine. We got our cup and we have a solid defense with some nice prospects in the minors. Not overly concerned.

Huge loss. St. Louis goes from having one of the best D cores in the NHL to pretty average

That was also before the shut down occurred right? May have remorse now. Even if the cap stays where it is (or lowers) what teams will be able to throw that kind of money at Petro? None of them are contenders. If he's fine having one cup and a fat wallet, then good for him. We may see unprecedented action during free agency. Players may sign short term deals and wait for the following year to cash in. It's not unheard of for players to do this - look at the last lock out for example.

Allegedly. Let's have some faith in Doug, he moved Berg+Sobotka to get O'Reilly and Lehtera to get Schenn. All of those guys have less value than Allen and Bozak.

Do you think he will (Petro) sign a 1 year like 6 million Dollar deal for example, with a guarentee of signing a example 9 million 8 year deal when cap expands.

This is what I've been talking about. No one knows what the NHL will be like when it returns to operation. Until there is a cap number released, it's all speculation. If the cap remains the same or lowers, Players may choose to take short term deals in hopes to cash in when the cap goes up.

yeah they kind of already did that once though last year so maybe they were trying to give him a bigger show of support. If 600k is the difference between Pietrangelo staying and walking though I'll be very upset. I don't think it will be though.

Yeah, contract extensions tend to not be his strong suit though so if there's anywhere I'm not having faith in him it's there.
