Ottawa is basically guaranteed a 1C this draft and they have Norris coming up. They get bent over in that Montreal trade

Disagree. They lose all 3, badly. I'll be shocked if Edmonton gets more than a mid 2nd round pick for Puljujarvi. Maybe a team throws in a B level prospect if they need to make room on their AHL roster.

You really think he's an AHLer? Hes certainly NHL caliber in my books. Maybe not first line but probably middle 6. 2 mid 2nds for a guy with his potential is a decent gamble.

I never said he was an AHL caliber. I said a team might consider giving up a mid/late 2nd rounder and an AHL player who's a B prospect. But let's look at this above trade with what we already know: Even when there was still time for EDM to sign Puljujarvi so that he could join another team for a playoff run ZERO TEAMS were willing to pay the asking price of ONE 2nd round pick and a prospect. SO why in the world would a team pay TWO 2nd rounders and 6th for him NOW? Honestly, the guy played for Liiga last year, which is BELOW SHL and KHL in terms of talent, and still didn't lead the league in goals or assists. He had a dreadful shooting percentage of 6.1 against goalies that aren't good enough to even get drafted into the NHL. Giving up ONE mid 2nd rounder is a high enough risk/price is you ask me. Shane Pinto and Alex Formenton were both recent 2nd rounders and I would NOT trade EITHER OF THEM for Puljujarvi. Not a chance in hell.

Puljujarvi was on a pt/g pace in liga last season. Hes 22 not 18 and playing in a league that is behind the nhl ahl khl shl. Again hes 22 and showing no signs that he can move the needle in the NHL. There are several players on the ufa market that have similar talent as JP. In my opion peoples evaluation of him is still being decided using his 4th overall draft status. In my mind draft status means nothing after draft day ends its a results oriented sport and puljujarvi hasnt had great results. If he was to be traded to a team like ott or Det he has a chance at making the team but it has to be said that he may not even make those teams out of camp. Edmonton likely has him valued at a 2nd round pick and other NHL teams probably have him valued around a 4th round pick.

Then you must not be watching hockey because James Duthie said "EDM is rumoured to be asking for a 2nd and a prospect" between periods almost every single night. Enough already. Puljujarvi has a .266 points per game pace in the NHL. To give you an idea of how bad that is, Balcers, while playing all 51 of his NHL games on the bottom 6 of a bottom team, has .333 points per game. Balcers also had far better numbers in the AHL. No one is giving EDM what you're suggesting. NO ONE.

OMG, Puljujarvi would crap a brick if he ended up on a new team but was still on a line with Lucic. HAHAHAHA
