I haven't paid a lot of attention to Stralman, but looking at his current cap hit I'm not sure how a deal would work if we had to take him back. I feel like his contract is negative value (but I could be wrong, just haven't seen him play a lot lately) and we would be giving up a bit much if he had to be included at his full salary.

I wouldn't have signed Hall though. Cap will be flat next year and maybe even the year after depending on how much revenue the league can generate without having fans in the stands. That means in 2 years this team would be screwed trying to sign everyone. Gaudreau, Barkov and Tkachuk will all be wanting raises.

If Florida decides to trade Barkov then they are going into full rebuild mode which would make Hanifin and Monahan not desirable money wise. Your trade is fine value wise but I think that they would probably ask for Dube, Mangiapane, Valimaki and a first

Unfortunately I think we will be losing Gaudreau when he hits FA. Because of that I could see a trade for him happening as early as this offseason or next just to get value for him. Which would help in signing Barkov and Chucky. Giordano also coming off the books will help as well in 2 years.

Anyways, the Barkov trade is obviously ridiculous. Regardless of whether you think he’s better than MacKinnon/Draisaitl or not (I’m not getting into that right now) he’s still a top 5 centre in the league and making only $5.9 million. Barkov is completely untouchable, just like Crosby, McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Malkin, Pettersson, etc. are untouchable. You’re not getting him by giving up a fringe 1C, an ok top 4 defenseman, and 2 late 1st round picks.

Like I said, you can't please everyone. You're probably right that they won't move him it's rare we see #1 centres moved, BUT at least others seem to think that the trade value is there and that's all I care about. No need to be a Debbie Downer, Negative Nancy or a Killjoy Kotkaniemi.

My point wasn’t that Stralman is valuable or not. Florida can’t take over 11 millions in salary and just gave under 6 millions. That just not goiing to work. That why i said Calgary would need to take stralman, that would even money at least.
