Yep I agree with about all of this lineup. Clifford not sure if he NHL worth 1.25m Maybe he gets a "good guy" contract 800,000 X 3 so he can go between the Leafs and Marlies without cap implications. Just can't see any team offering him nearly as much as you suggest.
I know so many have this RHD fascination with the Leafs. Barrie and Ceci gone....so what. Dermot, Lehtonen, Marincin and Liljegren. Those guys can be just as good.

Bit of an overreaction Sammy, most of the Leafs trades on here for a defense don't really take into account the other teams needs. Like the Weegar trades, they don't really make sense since he's a solid defensive RD but Florida is also a team that has defensive depth problems so moving him is counterproductive. Same with the Manson trades, ANA's RD depth is garbage after him. If chicago still had Gus, sure Murphy might be available but Chicago can't go into next year with a Top 4 including both Boqvist and Mitchell.

In a 1 for 1 deal he'd be worth a fringe top 4 dman as hes a fringe top 6 winger, montour or murphy come to mind, would have to add a bit for a guy like Severson but he could be the main piece in the return.

Remove Ceci and Barrie and the Leafs are left with Holl and Liljegren as right handed D. Even with the ever-present notion of Dermott being able to play the right side, until it actually happens and he proves that he can... it is all just talk.

For the record... I don't think that the Leafs are in need of adding that legitimate top pairing RHD at all costs. Far from it actually. However, to think that the right side is good enough as it is seems laughable to me. There will have to be additions there.

I expect a "DeMelo" or a "Weegar" or a "Roy" or a similar player will be added before the season begins next year. Not adding there would be foolish.

I'm just going to trust the process and believe that the organizations sees the light here. I'm sure they do.

And thats fair! Although Montour stinks.. But Murphy for him would be fair. And people are trading Kappy for Tennyson or any random 7th D and 3rd.. They think that any RHD is worth moon and heaven but in reality, finding RHD is easier than finding a good two-way even top-6 RW.

I agree that people are overrating RD. I commented on a post earlier saying if Dermott shot right people would be offering Nylander + on here. Don't think Montour would be a horrible add as hes a guy that can play 20 minutes and not look like Marincin. Murphy is interesting as he only got minutes last year due to injury and wonder if the Leafs could snag him without giving up a impactful roster player (wishful thinking)
