MY TAKE ON CSICK EICHEL TRADE

Created by: Bluejackets2000
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2020
Published: May 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Eichel deal expands on feedback that Buffalo needs a center in return.
Wennberg is solid two way center, a good passer, and would fill in at 2C/3C depth. He is also further along in development than Texier, and Texier is coming off a stress fracture in his back, so it would be less risky from Buffalo's side to take Wennberg.
Also, Stenlund is a center prospect who has been used at wing mostly by the Jackets.
The emergence of Peeke & Berni on the horizon, as well as the depth on defense make giving up Werenski a risk worth taking.

Another option to the Eichel trade could be to include Korpisalo and remove other asset(s) such as one of the 1sts.

yeah the original one i made was Werenski + Texier + Anderson and 2 1sts. Texier and Foudy are both solid young players. But once you switch one of these 2 for Wennberg, the deal becomes unbalanced like above

Sabres have Dahlin and then are stuck footing the bill for Werenski in 2 years because hes the only decent piece they get back, doesnt make much sense. If the Sabres trade Eichel, Their #1 need will be 1C and their #2 need would be 2C.

Eichel is a stud, but I’d rather keep those pieces if I’m Lumbus

I think Columbus would have a nice center depth with Eichel-Dubois-Jenner

PLuc would absolutely terrorize lesser competition on the second line. I like what adding Eichel does for Lumbus, I just think at least one of Tex, Foudy, or one of those first round picks makes you look bad in a few years. And they aren’t even the main pieces. Losing Werewolf hurts. It’s just a lot to give up for one guy

A legit 2C would most likely have to be part of the deal. Legit 2C, best center prospect in the organization, additional A+ prospect, B prospect, 2 1sts (if mid-to-late then add 1-2 mid-range pieces). Don't meet that price they just keep Eichel. Best player in almost any deal is a nice consolation prize...

Franchise centres are the most expensive thing in hockey. Everyone wants one and not every team has one. Jones and a 1st would be good trade but one that I am not sure Buffalo would want, they have Dahlin and would be in a situation where they have two amazing defenceman but no forwards worth a damn. Every team needs an elite centre to get over the top. Look at all the teams who have won the cup in this era. Kopitar in LA, (back in the day anyways) Toews in Chicago, Bergeron in Boston, Crosby, Backstrom, O'Rielly. Then you look at teams that came close but never won and many of them just lacked that centre depth.

Awesome and Zach Werenski walks in UFA and comes home to Detroit to play with his best pal Dylan Larkin.

You realize I’m talking about the pieces csick mentioned (Were, Tex, Andersen/Foudy, and two firsts)? Not the crap package mentioned above. Right?
