If I were CAR I would not do this. There's a general consensus that Pesce = Nylander, but I disagree. There's more risk with Nylander than Pesce. Nylander finally had a career year. It was a heck of a year. He's an underrated center and very fast. Those are good qualities. He's a liability defensively (hits and blocks shots less than Patrick Kane believe it or not) and even for a breakout season...it's a 69 point season. WHICH IS GOOD, but for a breakout year you probably still want more. The risk is the expectation that Nylander's going to continue his career based off this breakout season or even do better than his career year. He'll always be an underrated center IMO because he's been able to show that in pieces over the years. His SH% was ALOT higher than his career average. I worry if he can keep that up vs dip back down to the 61 point season he's shown in years past. Pesce with a $4M cap hit....and 4 more years...as a 2-way...RHD...25 years old is practically the jackpot. It's one of the best contracts in the NHL.

I wouldnt.. the difference might be 1.5M but also I think Kerfoot is 1.5M better player at least. Had more productive season while having his jaw broken for half of it..

I am glad Leaf fans aren't the GM and Dubas is. Nylander is not = to Pesce. Nylander is a projecting to be a point a game player. Pesce is a good secondary piece.

The trade that’s crazy is the Garland one. The coyotes would have to be legit insane to do that.

Explain why its bad. Leafs get top pairing two-way D signed longterm. Carolina gets top line two-way guy signed longterm. Carolina gets younger replacement for Pesce and Leafs get pick they would use to find player that would replace Nylander. Whats bad about it?

Pesce > Nylander in terms of value. One of the best 2 way defenders in the NHL on a STEAL of a contract for the next 4 years aged just 25 to fix your only hole, as compared to a guy who's just had a career year, and has shown that what he's just done isn't sustainable? Pesce is a premier D man, Nylander is a nice secondary piece

Pesce for Nylander and a small kicker, maybe Bracco makes sense. Still not sure it’s what Carolina would want to do, but it makes some sense at least.

Pesce hasnt played an NHL game until age 21. Liljegren just turned 21. Give him time..

You're such a ****ing fanboy. Nylander has produced elite level offensive chance generation since he entered the league. Top 25 consistently. He's elite, and Pesce is the most over hyped support player in the world. Just go away and stare at your Pesce poster.

PEsce has the bext xGA of any defender not named Hjalmerssen. Chance creation is great, fair enough. But Jordan Staal analytical generates more than Nylander. Does that make him better? Nope. Nylander is incredibly overrated. His defence is non-existant on a good day. Just using your own argument against you

I’m of the opinion that Pesce has more value than Nylander due to his contract, and more consistent performance, as well as playing a more crucial position.

21 year old NHL d prospects are a risky proposition. I do not think Liljigren has the value it appears you have placed on him.
