And we're not doing those things either, obviously.

I see your description so I know you're not serious, but man I've seen so many Blues fans (not necessarily on here) who, with a straight face, say "oh we were good without Tarasenko this year, we should trade him and get a haul". And those fans are very not smart!

It would be cool if we did, those players (Faulk and Scandella) are bad!

It’s not a crime to look into trading him now after we had a great year without him. If we can shed cap and get a massive haul back that extends our window, it May be something we should look into.

I like Scandella a bit, but it’s hilarious he went from playing third-pair minutes for two years and now he’s automatically a 23 minute defensive stalwart. Meanwhile Dunn’s killed every role he’s been given and plays 18 minutes a night.

I like Tarasenko a lot so it's hard not to consider this, and this would give us a real shot at the cup over the next 3 years. However I think Necas has potential Tarasenko-like production (probably less goals and more assists) but can also slide to 1C or 2C in the future. It's too much to give up if Necas produces like we hope he will in the future. It's a tough one.

As a Blues fan my initial reaction to any Tarasenko trade is "nah". And when you flip the trade around and look at that package in terms of Blues players, I'd be hesitant to trade Thomas, Mikkola, and 2 1sts for a 28-yr old star winger... it's an interesting trade concept but a 'no' from both sides IMO.

Oh boy maybe they are on here

Obviously it's not a crime, but it also doesn't make a lot of sense. We were "good" without Tarasenko, but also because of David Perron having almost a career year in scoring, inflated by power play totals and him playing with ROR. You can't count on a guy who is 32 to keep producing like that. Also Pietrangelo being a god, which we might not have next year. And, taking a ton of games to overtime, which inflated our point totals.

I don't hate the package (which we wouldn't get because he's coming off an injury) but he's still the best player on this team and it doesn't make a lot of sense to trade the best player on the team away. That does not extend our window. Our window is now. Let's win now.

If you look at his stats, he's literally only good in contract years. Every other year of his career he's been below replacement level, and that's whether he was on a contender (Minnesota) or a basement dweller (Buffalo). I don't mind keeping him around since we're thin on left (kinda), but all I see is a four year term for a bad defender having a good year that will be blocking younger guys like Perunovich and Mikkola and as you mention, especially Dunn, from getting the bigger assignments they deserve.

My perspective is maybe his shoulder injury lingers and he fades. He probably won’t and I probably wouldn’t trade him, but never hurts to listen.

God, I wish Anaheim weren’t the first team in the League alphabetically and therefore the stand-in for “Anywhere” or “CBO.”

At the very least he’s a big upgrade from Jay Bouw, but yeah they could have promoted from within and been fine.

The Blues are not trading one of the best goal scorers in the league while in a Cup mode for the franchise
