Try just Montour. Murray posted 1 good season in the last 3. .899 this year alone. Montour had his stock drop, but so did Murray.

I still have hope for Montour. He was playing on his offside with Ristolainen not a great recipe for success.

Agreed. One of them has to go. Miller compliments Dahlin well, and Joki can play with LHD UFA. I’m fine with Montour and McCabe. Might be a nice pairing

Difference is, Murray’s ceiling is a top goalie, montours ceiling is a #3D. Hard pass by Pittsburgh

Not exactly. But I’m not gonna argue it. He won 2 cups on great teams. .907 and .899 in 2 of the last 3 isn’t exactly “top goalie” unless you mean a starter.. which he’s leaning towards a split goalie/lower end of starters. From Buf I wouldn’t do anything more then Montour for him, and that’s fine if you wanna pass

People keep trying to put Montour on the penguins.
Like they can afford that contract in any way shape or form.
They don't have 3.5 million for a 3rd pairing defensemen.
Hell, that's pretty much the main reason JJ has to go.
**** if JJ was on a league minimum deal, no one would say a damn word about him.
But the problem is he makes 3.25 million per.

So Montour had the best +/- among all Sabre skaters,
Only Scandella had a better PDO than he among all Sabre defensemen.
He only played 14% of PP time yet only Dahlin and Ristolainen had more pts/min than he among all Sabre defensemen.
Yet somehow his stock fell?
Yes I am a HUGE Montour fan, I would not take MM for him straight up.
Put him a Penguin uniform and let him QB the PP and he will get you more pts than any other defenseman not named Letang.

Ok. That’s fine too. Either Risto or home needs to go. Don’t really care which, Montour May have higher upside, but will bring back more as well

His issue is finding consistency. After his second cup he looked like a future vezina lock. He’s still figuring it out. He has the elite talent.

That is a Botterill trade. He's gone. Deal isn't even considered for a moment.

Ok well consistency is pretty crucial for a goalie. He also has played like just an ok backup. You know how many “elite talent” goalies there are that never pan out. Like 2/3 in every system at all times.

Yes but Matt Murray was on track to. That’s why were in no rush to trade a goalie who had a .919 save percentage last year, has two cups, and just had a terrible year this year. Would be a mistake to sell low on a guy

Yeah, same with Montour. Don’t think one year playing on his off hand with Rasmus Ristolainen should define a guys career as a 3rd pairing at best. Especially when before that he showed more

I agree. I dont think Buff should trade Montour, with that being said, Murray has higher upside than Montour, so while both players struggled the past season and both can do better, im still not interested in that trade

That’s totally fine. My point was that Montour, TT, and pick 38 is overkill for Murray. Like a by a lot. We’ll just agree to disagree on the value of them. Murray may have more “upside” but the goalie position just isn’t nearly as valuable as defense. That’s why I think it balances out any difference between them.
