You know that if you offer 6-7M to Sergy... it should be enough!

Massive overpay, Doubt Sergachev has any interest in returning to Montreal though.

I've never seen an offer sheet that wasn't an overpay, that's the whole point to ensure the other team can't match. But for the purposes of this roster I just went with the highest total that could fit under the cap to see if they could make an offer sheet work.

With Tampa Bay's salary situation, an offer sheet of 6M-6.5M will be enough for them not to match. The only thing is the 1st rounder Habs will give up might end up being a lottery pick again in 2021.

Since Detroit is rebuilding they aren't going to give up a 2nd for 31yr old winger.

idk the tax % but he could sign for less in Tampa and make a similar $$ amount and still live in Florida

Yup with the higher taxes in Montreal, Tampa could give him about $5 million per which probably translates to $7 million per from Montreal i would imagine.

exactly then you have to ask yourself would you rather play in Tampa (powerhouse and imo a more desirable place to live) or Mon (not quiet there yet and they have winter)

Yup if it were me it's definitely Tampa over Montreal, I already live in Florida and i'd never ever think about going back to Michigan unless it was to visit family. Sergachev isn't leaving Tampa for montreal by all accounts he loves it here in Florida and Tampa is much closer to cup contention then Montreal.

Gavin group has a decent calculator to give you a ‘rough’ idea.

It’s much closer to a million difference in taxable based income between the two.

i also imagine he has a sick house then he would have to sell it. that's why i think people take hometown deals by it has to suck to move once you are all settled in. i would sign a team friendly deal and get a full NTC

1.15 million on a 7million deal so if Mon offersheets him at 7million he could sign for 5.8m ish and in Tampa and not have to move and be on a cup contender. iassume is Tampa offers him 5.5m that's better , all things considered, than 7million

there are 3 options for Washington caps... that's interesting

Probably closer to the 5.5 figure but yeah there’s definitely a significant advantage to tax free states (Seattle, LVGK, Tampa, Florida, Preds, Dallas) vs Canadian/Cali/New York teams. It’s hard to really gauge because you’re taxed where the revenue is earned (eg half where you live and the other half across the league). Definitely requires a tax consultant and I always hated my corporate/personal tax classes.
