Thinking you're going to get a 1st for Puljujarvi is absolutely unrealistic. Short of adding one of Broberg, Bouchard, Klefbom, Draisaitl, or McDavid to Puljujarvi, it's just not happening. And if one of those is added, the 1st is for that player. Puljujarvi's just the sweetener

It was in Nov. The 2nd 1st doesn't make either of them expendable for a player like Jesse. Pulju was playing well then. The main difference from now and then is that Lias went to the SHL and put up the exact same point rate as Puljujarvi making the Rangers initial offer of Lias for Jesse even more sensible now.

Regardless, it doesn't make sense. The Rangers dealt for Gauthier at the deadline. He took Puljujarvi's potential spot in the lineup. There's no room for JP anymore.

A first and prospect was the ask for JP so your on the money there. People on this site tend to completely devalue players they really know nothing about.

Two thing to call out on the NJ side of the proposed deal and an added deal.

1) I'm curious about the value of Palms (or any rental for that matter) without knowing the number of games for next season. The proposed start is December '20, right? Shortened season? I can go both ways here - first, less games, less value. I think that's plain and simple. Second, digging deeper - shorter season becomes a sprint, so load up, value of a rental increases. I hope the Devils resign him, but if they move him I'd love to see a prospect coming back. If that 2020 pick is 10-15, my ask becomes tough/impossible (maybe the Devils adding a mid 21 pick to the mix). Not sure.

2) I doubt Colorado can take the duration of the Neal contract, but NJ certainly can. I'm not opposed to taking him on, so something to the effect of 2x1sts in 2020, 21, prospect, and Neal, for Palms. Just spit balling here!

I will say overall the only things I’m not big on that you did is deal larsson away I’m very big on larsson personally. Dont care for Andersson personally and flipping that first for an aging vet I’d rather just bring jp back into the fold and give him the opportunity he earned a few years ago. But if your in the camp that he won’t return then I could get behind something like that.

You can disagree with Puljujarvi's value on the trade market legitimately because none of us actually knows what any GM is willing to pay, but to say things like "absolutely unrealistic", "definitely unrealistic" and "were (sp) all laughing" is demonstrably false, as I proved in comments 1,2 and 5 in the link below. Puljujarvi has a similar or higher ceiling and far less risk than a pick in the mid twenties.

1) Andersson had a tiny sample size in SHL this year, just 15 games.
2) he scored at 0.80 P/GP which is NOT "the exact same point rate" as Puljujarvi's 0.95 scoring rate.
3) Andersson's 5v5 play was abysmal in SHL whereas Puljujarvi lead Liiga in possession and shots by a wide margin and was near the top in GF%.

To cast these two players as equivalent is ignorant of the facts.

Me too. Larsson is solid. But looking at every “elite” team out there there’s always a high scoring D man on their roster. Hoping Bouch will be that guy, but he has to eventually take over the top 4.

Ya I’m confident by the end of next season bouch will be that offensive blueline stud in the top 4. He’s going to push bear or larsson out of the top four. My choice is keep larsson shut down d are important still and he’s the only one on the team which blows my mind how often I see people throwing him aside. I tend to suggest trading bear for a rental like petry older more experienced can shelter bouch better just to make it easier on him to get going and confidence.

Puljujarvi... a guy who has shown to be a low end third liner in NA at best... and is currently holding out and is content playing in Europe... has MORE VALUE than a PROVEN high end top 6 winger...
