Why? that's a really good deal for Jets, considering they have just 1 decent RD

Winnipeg definitely declines. Petry has a year left on his deal and while I like him...Samberg is arguably Winnipeg's top prospect and could crack the roster next year even. Copp is one of the best defensively responsible players in the league and the perfect player you want at 3C, plus he's still RFA when his contract's up AND a 2nd. I would be pissed if Winnipeg made this deal.

Not even close I think: Kotkaniemi kind of looks like a 3rd line centre right now.
Caufield is a good player, but was not impressive at the WJC
And I don't think Drouin is anywhere near Eichel

Probably the only thing I could agree with a Sabres fan on that Eichel gamble is that both teams refuse.

Why pay for petry, when Barrie, hamonic, Brodie, DeMelo, and a variety of other options are going to be out there.

I may pay for a 2c, that market looks thin, but anything to do with the blueline I would gamble, and do there usual bargain hunt and gamble, possibly gold on the waiver wire.

So KK is never going to improve even though he is only 20....
Caufield out performed pretty much everyone his own age while playing away from any other talented prospect all season but let's judge off 1 tourney
And you're right on the last one, Drouins a 50 point to 60 point winger, not a 80+ point guy

It's not as far off as you're thinking but it still would need a good piece to convince Buffalo

I am not saying that, but Eichel is a superstar in the NHL right now, while JK and CC are maybes. JK might be a second line centre one day, maybe a first line centre, but maybe not. CC may become a good NHLer, maybe not

And I don't think Buffalo wants to go back 3 years in their process

If habs want Eichal, you know what piece buffalo would want? First Overall. And MTL doesn’t do it. So it’s a mute point

Arguement could be made that Buffalo hasnt moved forward in the 3 years they've had Eichle but I get your point lol

I think MTL would do 1st overall and another piece for Eichle. At least I would but I'm a believe that Laf will be more of a Taylor Hall then a Panarin so maybe I'm the lone Habs fan that would

Maybe a deal involving players like that works when you want a player on a team at a different point. Who is just start rebuilding. I don't know. Maybe Kopitar or so, who is still good but will probably not be that good when the Kings are good again

If Buffalo was able to make a trade for Kopitar it would be a very good team. Eichle and Kopitar as your 1 - 2 would be a force to be reckoned with. They would just need Skinner to play like he can and they would be competing in the division for the next couple years.

Yes would be hard cap wise, but I was more talking about the Habs. They could offer those prospects for Kopitar and the Kings would be more likely to accept, as they are going through a rebuild and Kopitar will be too old when the Kings would get competitive again

Dont think Kopitar is what the Habs need. If Kopitar played RW, they would consider it. Right now though the Habs have to many centers that look like they can play in the top 6 in the near future, adding him would mean less ice time and development for the younger guys.

I was reffering to him the Eichel trade, who is also a centre. And Kopitar would be by far the best centre they have. Not saying that they should do that, but he would be a huge upgrade on every player down the middle
