Description
Outside of Robertson, Sandin and Liljegren (who are almost all NHL ready) the leafs have a thin prospect pool. they are in a cap crunch and with a flat cap for a few years they could shed some salary, get good picks and fill the gaps with euro players on prospects on ELC's

At the TDL a 1st for sure but not in the offseason. He was on pace for only 15 goals and 43 points before the stoppage of play.

I don't think the Leafs should resign Clifford, as it costs them a pick and he has not really been good enough to justify that pick.

It costs them giving up a second instead of a third. I think he is worth that.

I don’t see why it makes a difference.

Unless Dubas is given either 1st or 2nd Rd picks, there is no use to adding more mid to late Rd picks, Dubas and company have scouted poorly with the late picks they have and that's why the prospect pool is super thin. Honestly Abruzusse is the only late pick who might be NHL worthy.

It does. You can just get a player who brings what Clifford brings on the UFA market that does not cost you anything.

shouts out to Abramov.

Also hes only been the GM for 2 drafts and later picks general take longer. more picks = more chances at hitting. Dubas looks to be good at drafting and developing, but it's too early to get a definitive answer

I agree. Abramov did well.

I think the Leafs are good at drafting recently. I don't know how much of that is decided by the scouts and how much by the GM

He is just not good with contracts.

I don't like the Marner contract (too much and too short) and I don't like the Muzzin contract (a bit much). And the Ceci contract is other than being too high, also just bad that he is here

The Nylander contract where he got the most heat for, is actually his best so far

I agree, at least the Ceci trade is a long term steal. 1yr of Ceci >>> 5yrs of Zaitsev. I really want to see him squeeze Soup and Dermott, with Soup's limited games played and Dermott having limited TOI and points (which gets D paid) Dubas should have the leverage to get cheap 2-3 year deals.

I guess if Martin want to come back. But who else are you thinking of?

Since someone did a shout out to Matt Martin I will give you him as an example of what the OHL stats mean to NHL success. Martin scored 60 goals in 127 games during his final 2 seasons. So whatever SDA or Abramov is doing now, doesn't matter much.

Sharks decline. Rather have those picks. We do well in later rounds, typically.

It does, always does. At the TDL, values almost always increase...at least for impact players.
