68 games played 31 goals 28 assists. Not to mention the kids only 24 and will only get better. He is the leaf next to Matthews and Tavares I could see reaching 40 goals. So if he isnt worth his contract than 90% of the players signed rn in the NHL arent worth their contracts.

Guentzel is actually making 6 mill and is a year older than Nylander. He took a discount to stay with the penguins and is the rare exception as he and Crosby have good chemistry with one another which is why his point totals are good.

you are not wrong at all. I was just using him as an example. some guys are willing to take less and some aren't but that's a whole different talk lol. I agree with you that Nylander is a great young talent in the league I just think they could've payed him and the other 3 (AM, MM, JT) a bit less. but Tavares was free agency and everyone over pays in free agency.

agree they are all over payed. it sucks for Toronto. if all of those guys just take 1 million less that makes 4 million for them to sign another asset to win and that's what they could be missing.

Tavares I get. You won't get a free agent that caliber if you don't pay him that money, but I would've maybe gone with like 9.5-10M. Matthews is deserving of his contract. Top 10 player in the league and 50+ goal scorer. Nylander's is good and will only get better. But there was no reason to give Marner that contract. 8.5M x 6 would've been ideal

I agree Marner is an assist guy he is a great passer with greta vision. bold statement but I don't think he breaks 35 goals In a season.

most players who had much fewer points than him were paid at least $600,000 USD more than him. His contract has been a steal this year.

Even with sitting out half a year, Zucker and Nylander have identical points the last 3 years. And Nylander has actually outperformed him during the playoffs. Nylander is an extra 1.5 on the cap, but he has more term and is 5 years younger. Zucker has regressed the last two years, Nylander is getting better.

If Zucker for Nylander was an option MN would have jumped all over it last year. Nylander is younger and a much more complete player than Zucker. This is a very bad deal for TOR.
