The Backstrom contract is really going to hurt the team, not this example but the real team. Caps are a team that would be desperate for ~$2m.

I honestly didnt think his contract would be that high.

I think that's a fair deal for Bonino - but I'd obviously prefer to retain less.

I honestly think they should've let him walk if he didn't take a paycut. I know he's synonymous with the Caps and Ovi but he's a slightly above average 2C at this point and probably just going to decline and be pushed down the lineup in a couple years if McMichael is as good as advertised.

I believe that was around the time when all that drama was happening with Kuzy so I dont think they could have let him walk. Especially as a contender, one decision like that could take you right out of contention. I'm sure Backstrom is a huge lockeroom presence and means more to the team than we know. You don't want to put that much pressure on a kid like McMichael too, expect him to fill Backstroms shoes at 2C his first season. Could ruin his career honestly. I think they will be okay. Think about it, there core is getting up there and the window is going to start to close in 3 years or so in my opinion. Could be sooner. Ovi, Backstrom, Carlson, and Oshie are all getting up there. I think Backstrom stays good for another 3-4 years.

You said "I really don't want Panik again" last time.

Do you speak on behalf of the Chicago Blackhawks, Mr. Bowman?

Just one mans opinion, obviously you didn’t listen to the rejection last time, so why are you posting it again?

Not sure if Gudas / Greiss (both making above $3M now) sign for that low, but maybe. Resigning Ovi, Vrana, and Sammy the following year would be tough with this roster...

Where is Fehervary?

Would rather keep Trouba. Unlike most of the idiots on here that want him dealt. He was extremely effective in the 2nd half and is by far our best defense minded dman.

Okay, you keep posting the same trash trade, and I’ll keep telling you Chicago rejects it. No big fuss needed.

I don't know anything about Fehervary and I can't assume Gudas and Greiss getting much more than 2M with flat cap.

No idea why Chicago would do that. They pay a 3rd to add cap for the next two years and then pick up another year of term beyond that? That makes no sense, especially because if they’re both healthy I’d rather have Shaw.
