Description
I think Lafreniere is going to be a fantastic player but Rangers are in dire need of a Center. I’m pro Byfield... I think he’ll be better fit for the Blue shirts.

Welcome to CapFriendly! Just a few things before you get started:

    - This site is all about experimenting, all hypothetical
    - Don't be afraid to try new things
    - People can be pretty harsh towards you, so don't take anything personally
    - Have fun!

As much as I like AL. Kings absolutely do not make this trade. Kings will stay put.

FJ is looking like a bust. He was a big reach (3rd round is where he was projected to go) on his draft day.

Personally I remember watching him get drafted so I was interested is there a chance he bounces back?

I honestly don’t think vilardi/turcotte would be the pieces the kings would be willing to move as you’d be getting byfield. I think it would be more like a kupari or Thomas plus a couple other pieces. If it involves the other two guys the kings will just keep the pick.... Again, I would LOVE AL on the kings, but it would just cost too much

The kid has 0 offense in his game. Even defensive d-men need to at least chip in a few points here and there.

The max I would go is Kupari/Thomas. Fagemo/kaliyev and the 2OA

I still think Kings keep the pick with that package but it could get it done without breaking the bank.

Unfortunate, is there anything else you guys could offer that make sense?

Johansson probably won't ever play in the NHL, at the very best he's maybe a depth player. He seems like a nice kid at least. If you want a RD from us, Mennell should be the target (we won't trade Addison after acquiring him). He has 2nd pairing upside if everything goes well. I think Strome played a lot better than he actually is this year, but he's still worth more than a prospect with 2nd pairing upside.

I just don't see any situation where the Kings and Rangers will swap the #1/#2 picks. The Rangers will want too much, and the Kings will not want to give up enough. It will be a game of chicken with both GMs hoping the other will blink. Most likely scenario is a stalemate where both teams will just end up using their own picks.

If a trade does get done, that means someone overpaid and their GM should be fired.

    Welcome bro!

I think that New York would be a better fit for byfield over laffy. I also think you could get a bit more for Strome. Good job on a first post!

Honestly I don’t think it’s too far fetched for going after Byfield 1OA

I think there's a greater chance that the Kings win the Stanley Cup next season then the Rags taking Byfield at 1OA.

They should but I know they won’t but I also will not be too shocked if they do 😳 Either way I’m just glad Kings have the 2OA and will take byfield

A combination of Strome being much better, having a much higher ceiling & both teams strengths and weaknesses make it about as easy of a decline as you'll see. Neither team needs Johansson whatsoever and Minnesota has a much larger need of centre than NYR who still need a 2C. Strome did a good enough job for tuen to be that, at least short term
