I mean that he’s more valuable and more what the Kings would want. Byfield would be an elite piece, Kings would want as many high quality assets as possible

The sheer quantity doesn't make up for the fact that LA still gives up the best asset by a country mile.

even by taking on a "slow dinosaur"? what if we add another 1st in 2022 and another prospect?

Rangers just don't need to have another trade to gain a draft pick.

Taking on Carter's deal only adds value if LA needs the space bad, like marleau with the leafs--> canes. The kings don't need Carters deal off the books so bad that they should give up the chance to draft their best player since Kopitar.

You're out to lunch if you think LA is trading #2 for your pack of mangled units

Why do the rebuilding Kings need a cap dump for Carter? They trade the second overall and likely don't get a pick in the top 10 with the two picks they get back, no blue chip prospects, and a cap dump that is not needed. Pass, the conversation starts with Fox or Kappo, and I don't see you guys doing that.

If NYR want Byfield, just take him at #1.

If they want both #1 and #2... they'll have to send at least blue-chipper back. Fox, Kakko, etc

then id do this package to ottowa and maybe take on a different cap dump. same structure. they could definitely use a goalie, offensive dman alongside with chabot, strome as their center, 2 defensive prospects with upside, and the 1sts

i think make offers to both teams. either way you get an elite centre man. if LA accepts then you get your pick of who you want. if LA doesn’t you still get a future all star, assuming they develop well.

LOL... this is really bad. Kings literally don’t need any of those pieces. Kings will draft their franchise center man. NYR still searching for their 2c. May never get one unless they draft one. Ask MIN and CBJ how that’s working out

There isn't a trade to be worked out to acquire the #2 from LA this year that doesn't have either the #1OA or Kakko coming back. A swap for #1OA is unlikely because the Rangers will want too much and the Kings won't be willing to pay it. The only way NY gets #2 is if something like this happens:

To NY
#2OA
#35OA

To LA
Kakko
#23 OA (Carolina's Pick)

I know this is a small trade in comparison but OTT says no. Lias Andersson is not name that excites GMs right now.

Offer a similar package to Ottawa for #5 and grab Rossi.

Or lesser one for Lundell, or Zary, or better yet, Lapierre if healthy.
