Ottawa doesn’t need more goalies. You can have Tierney for a 2nd+3rd, or we’ll take Bjugstad if you give us a 3rd

Jets decline. I like letang don’t get me wrong but he really isn’t what we need. We need a big physical top 4 rd and letang just isn’t that. Also it’s a slight overpay imo, but that’s just me

If we trade Letang then we might as well just blow it up. You can’t replace a top pair elite RHD like that. Chris Tanev isn’t a D that could take that kind of responsibility let alone duplicate what Letang does.
And Simon hasn’t been used to his full potential? The guy literally plays with one of the best players, if not THE BEST, in the game right now and can’t score lol. He’s an analytics dream but when it comes to actual production, he’s kind of a nightmare lol

Byron > Hornqvist
Domi >>>>>>> McCann
A 2nd round pick doesn’t do it, not even close

We don’t want Hörnq at all
We don’t want McCann

Domi vs 15th + 2021/2022 2nd round pick you choose / I would do it
Domi vs Poulin + 2021 2nd round pick I consider it

Ottawa doesn't need a goaltender? Are we thinking about the same team? Nilsson is barely NHL level. Hogberg Is not NHL level. No one in the Ottawa pipeline is NHL level.

Ottawa is at, or at least near, the top of the list of teams that need a goalie.

This is incorrect. Nilsson is a really solid backup and Hogberg actually played well last year, the goal is to give him more minutes this year. Ideally Hogberg takes off with it, we deal Nilsson at the deadline, and Daccord is ready to step in as backup halfway through the year, which would allow us to get him some quality NHL minutes and also call up Mandolese to the AHL. Sens fans are more than happy to start the year with Hogberg+Nilsson, we aren’t trying to be good so it will be a great opportunity to develop our goalies. We have Nilsson+Hogberg in the NHL, Daccord+Gustavsson platooning in the AHL (which is sort of less than ideal, both would rather be the starter), and Mandolese as the ECHL starter, but it’s very likely he proves he’s too good for that pretty quickly and we’ll want to bring him up a level. So yeah while they aren’t elite talents yet, we have 5 solid goalies in our pro pipeline (not even counting Sogaard in the WHL for another year), 2 of which are NHL calibre and one which projects to be by mid-season, so we’re totally fine with letting the guys we’ve got develop.

No chance Winnipeg gives up all that youth and picks for a 33 year old declining defenseman with a bad contract.

I guess there is something to be said about being the best team in the AHL.

For a rebuilding team having one of the best teams in the AHL is a great sign. Especially when you have the #3 and #5 overall picks, and 9 picks in the top 71, about to join the pipeline as well.

Byron better than Hornqvist? Really? He was on pace for a 50 point season. Im only taking Byron back because of cap space. Domi is better than McCann, but 2nd is there to balance. Pens can add, but Hornqvist is definitely better than Byron..

Forgot to add because of Hörn cap space I rather have Byron on my bottom six at 3.4M then Hörn at 5.3M. If they were both making 1M I would agree, but in a cap space era Byron > Hörn

If we trade Domi it’s because we don’t need more LW/C so getting a lesser player is totally useless
