I am in the camp of the Rangers need a center also. But Max Domi is not the answer.

He's 5'9...is not a full time center, has terrible faceoff numbers...he just isn't an improvement over Strome in the most important areas..just offensively. The Rangers don't lack for goal scoring. Their 2C needs to be a reliable player in his own end who can be deployed to take that tough faceoff with 2 minutes left. A player who can take the burden of defensive zone starts in order to shield Chytil in an important growth year. Domi is not that. He's a nice player with a lot of talent, but he just isn't a fit for what the Rangers need.

Maybe I am wrong and he surprises everyone (doubtful), but what happens if he can't fill the roll? You have ZERO experience behind him to fill the void. You'd have to pray that Chytil can step in and take over. You also don't have room for him on LW, unless your wasting him on the 4th line...so he has no landing spot if he doesn't succeed.

I also don't believe that would be enough for Montreal to be moved to trade him anyway. There has to be a better offer from another team who's bringing him in as a full time LW.

Why are the Sharks, a team clearly in transition, trading for a guy who is 27 years old and about to get paid in the next two years... in exchange for a talented prospect AND a pick?

I dont know if the Sharks are looking at next year as a transition year with Doug Wilson and the age of their best players. Think its much more likely they look at last year as an aberration and try to make the team better now. I think thats a fair return for Strome as well, Gambrell is someone that is likely in need of a scenery change.

I would much rather Danault than Domi but was just having some fun putting Domi, ADA and Lemieux on the same roster. 3 idiots.

HAHA, Domi and ADA fighting first day of training camp!

If the Sharks were wise, they'd learn from the Rangers example...holding on for the sake of suffering painful loses in the playoffs...just cut the cord. Those years where we were trading away assets for Staal and praying Hank would steal series as usual...was just wheel spinning for no reason. I much prefer the rebuild phase we've gone through than what was happening before that. Easier to watch kids lose and learn than to watch Tampa's midgets run circles around our garbage defense!

Montreal is another team on that bubble...I'd even say the Flyers are. What good does finishing in the middle do? Besides allow you to watch all the talent go to other teams year after year in the draft?

Been there...done that. In the immortal words of Ricky Bobby..."if you ain't first, you're last!"

Hank retiring and leaving $5.5 mil on the table isn't very "MAGA" of him...

34th overall alone is way too much value for Strome. Highest SJ would consider going is the COL 2nd and even that is all dependent upon what his contract looks like after the anomaly of this season where Panarin carried him and his points total. Away from Panarin, he is a 30-35 point scorer the rest of his career. Just can't justify giving up a ton of value for a guy like that given he has arb rights and is going to get paid more than he should thanks to his one good season.

Its 4.5m if he retires after his bonus. A lot of of money but not insane when he has already been paid 105m in career salary alone.

Meh, MAGA doesn't leave money on the table.

I'm just really not sure why Rangers fans think he goes out and does this big favor to the Rangers?

Idk if people realize this, but the dude won the election. That means that a significant number of americans support him, also including that rich people are likely to vote republican means that a very large chunk of the league is trump supporters and you will never know.

Yeah I guess the Labanc part makes sense. Burns isn't explicitly very political, but he retweets some very conservative, pro-gun, and pro-military stuff and follows a lot of sketchy profiles (ie. OANN, DJT, Ben Shapiro etc.). Cootch just made a fool of himself today.
