Well I am sure he is going to love it... other than the cap issues.

For Toronto... it is gross.

Nylander is certainly a big help but the Isles are losing more "important" (meaning relative to their own team) than they are getting back. Beau is turning into a bonafide beast. I'd....pass?

This is disgustingly awful for Toronto. All of them are easily declined.

Disagree.... Dermott probably too much but that’s a good direction imo

I really like Mikheyev, but i don’t think Detroit gives three picks for him.

If you think for one moment that nylander couldn’t replace beauvillier in the top 6 you are nuts. I get it. People like their players. If someone offered me McKinnon for nylander I would be like yes please.

The cap issues kill this

I don't think this makes sense for either team. Toronto gets a cheap improvement on Johnsson, a solid RD they desperately need, and a great bottom-6 C, but at the cost of a world-class RW and a guy who looks like he's a viable NHL-quality defenseman (plus window dressing). From the Islanders' side, I agree with @joshelkin that it makes little sense to move 3 guys out from a Cup-contending team, even for Nylander, and from Toronto's side, losing Nylander seems to me to be a bad idea. I think that NY is closer to saying Yes, but declines.

Maybe down the road a bit but after his first season where he had 8 goals and 23 points. I'm not sure he gets one 3rd by himself.

Nylander production is likely more, sure. But again, Isles lose their most versatile forward/PKer/break up their crucial 4th line/heart and soul of the team. They also lose a cheap alternative RD who is an effective PKer as well. Those guys can't be easily replaced. It's still a pass even if cap wasn't an issue.

So pker’s and 4th liners can’t be as easily replaced as a talented top 6 versatile lW C RW?

Did you see how different the Islanders looked without Cizikas? This isn't a slight against Nylander. This is "which player(s) will impact the Islanders more"

Besides, you're clearly against this trade. Shouldn't be so offended that the other side doesn't want it either lol

I really couldn’t say what his value is. But he is a solid two way player. He looked great in camp and the exhibition and did poorly in the playoffs in.

I've been mulling this over all day. I've come to the conclusion that you're right . . . this is much closer to a Yes by the Islanders than I had originally expressed. PKers, bottom-pairing RDs and bottom-6 Cs are easily replaced no matter how much above the norm for their position they are. Nylander plus trash is probably worth this package, and the add-ons are quite a bit more than trash. The cap factor might be critical (I haven't looked at it), but thinking a lot more about your initial reaction has converted me . . .

People love their players I get it. Uncle Leo was never very good but I loved having him on the team. Same goes with Martin. Can they be replaced? Sure quite easily. Cizikis is a great 4c.... because he should be a 3c.

I look at that package and I see a 1st 2nd and two 3rds in value then I look at the Toronto side and I see 2nds (I believe Dermott is worth a 2nd) a 7th and nylander... making nylander worth less than a first.

All pointless because NYI simply can’t add any cap.

If you want to trade him I wouldn't give him $3.4M after 1 ok season.
