Description

people think for some reason that you could get Hamilton for a 1st+ johnsson. This could only happen if Carolina believes they cannot afford him

Assets gained for Carolina:
-Young cost controlled forward in the right age group that would be great in the top 6
-best prospect in the organization that is a sure fire top 4 dman in the future
-#1 goalie who is only owed 1 million this year and would excel behind Carolinas defense.

Assets to toronto
- A legit #1 right handed defenseman which they haven't had in decades also signed to an extension
-under league average goalie who could be bought out/traded for picks (in the deal for money)

IMO LIljegren plus would be better than Sandin because Bean will basically want the same job as Sandin and they already have Slavin and Skjei...

Sandin is MUCH better than Lilly. I was thinking quality over quantity. Plus Carolina has proven that they are more than happy to stockpile defense

Too much sense? Let's break it down then.

Andersen and Mrazek both UFA's next year. Pretty well a wash, and doesn't provide any sort of upgrade in goal.
Nylander and our best defensive prospect for a guy who is due for a massive extension when we are already tight to the cap? No, it doesn't make sense.

I like it really. I dont think they want to break the bank signing hamilton anyways. Now how the goaltending hold up in the playoffs I have no idea but mrazek and Campbell should be enough to get you there.

What? Your sentence does not make sense. Mrazek has less value than freddy, Nylander and sandin imo still carries more value than dougie whos gonna get a 8x8-10 extension next year.

thats not the only pieces in the trade though is it buddy.

Would i trade prime keith for marleau, a D+2 roman josi, and swap goalies for a worse goalie? Probably not if im the leafs.

Yeah but from Anderson unless you get markstrom or lehner none of the ufa goalies are really all that much better than mrazek. Id just extend anderson really and not move him

If Hamilton was truly a "top 5 D" in the league why does he get traded almost every other year? He is a really really good d man but simply not a top five d in the league
