I wouldn't trade both Domi and Danault if I was MTL, only Danault has expressed displeasure in playing on the third line. Also, I don't see much use in trying to acquire Kuznetsov as MTL has two young Centres that are cheap. If anything MTL needs some RW depth.

They definitely get value. But probably not enough. Unless Danault came with a contract extension.

I honestly can’t take any Domi+Mete trade seriously anymore, Habs fans simultaneously don’t want them yet think their trade value is higher than established superstars like how

True, but isn't a #1C worth more than two #2C's?

Kuznetsov is not that good. He's terrible defensively.

While Domi is also bad defensively, he's not as bad as Kuznetsov, he's also better offensively than Kuznetsov.

Danault is straight-up better than Kuznetsov, no questions asked.

That and they lose Mete who's pretty good for Kempny who did not have a great year.

I don’t care about Domi Danault, if we are trading them it’s because Suzuki is #1 and Kotkaniemi is #2

The problem is Danault is not signed past this year. I would only make this trade if I were Washington, if an extension was in place for Danault.

Panik can play either side. Mostly played RW in Wash, I think?

A 2C and a 6D do not get you a good top line player. At least this one added Danault but he’s a rental

I understand you’re deep there, my point was why do you think the 2 guys you’ve picked as unnecessary and are running out of town are worth a king’s ransom? If you can’t see Mete in your lineup and you’re the 24th best team, why would anyone else value him?

Oh, how novel. A Pens fan insulting a Capitals player by making things up.

Kuznetsov has three 70+ point seasons and one 32 point playoffs. As a Penguins fan, you'll be happy to hear that the only active player with a better single season playoff points total is Malkin: http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?aggregate=0&reportType=season&seasonFrom=19171918&seasonTo=20192020&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points&page=0&pageSize=100

He shut down Crosby pretty well in the 2018 2nd round. To me, that's a good enough defensive center. He doesn't play as much PK as Danault, but Panik does, and can come close to Danault's point totals, if he plays 2R or 2L.

Yeah. He could turn into something. But I don't think he'd make or break this deal. I was mostly thinking Kuznetsov for Domi and Danault, with other pieces balancing cap and roster spaces, and building off someone else's comment, from earlier.

Habs should try to keep him. He’s a very good 2 way player. I’m not sold on KK yet (not saying he’s bad just too soon to tell)

I think we're talking about the same ball-park. I'm guessing players/agents care more about total earnings and slight front-loading than about their cap hit, whereas teams care more about cap hits and building a contender. 38.5 over 7 is like 36 over 6 and then a year at 2.5M at age 34, if he's still got it.
