That Kane trade happens if you add 2x 1st rd picks. Might as well just keep Lehkonen and throw money at Hall. save yourself the Smith contract.

That Winnipeg trade doesn't happen.

That Edmonton trade is actually worse for Montreal.

I wouldn't budge on that. Lehkonen is worth a lot with the flat cap.

re: Kane trade. I don't think so. They'd be more than happy to get out from another 5 years of the Kane experiment. One 7m+ contract gone for them, but he's exactly what the Habs need if they move Domi.

Why doesn't the Winnipeg trade happen? They're desperate for a 2C, father played for the Jets. They've probably been eyeing him for a while. They would probably prefer a 2-way player like Danault but the Habs should keep him.

Moving out Lehkonen for a 2nd while signing a stopgap scorer like Smith is not a bad tradeoff. They're stuck with Byron.

Edmonton’s not moving a second
Lehkonen deal is fine but he’s only got 1 yr left then he’s a RFA again if the cap stays flat moving forward I don’t see Edmonton being able to keep him long term.
And with you taking no money back Edmonton can’t fit him in cap wise this yr
Benson going to be a solid bottom six option he needs a chance to play if we take a middle line forward in a trade he needs to be moved as we would have a spot for him.

Domi straight up for Kane and Tatar to _____ for a 1st works as well IMO.

If Edmonton can't fit a 2.4m 2 way player in to compliment McD, Drai, RNH...
Plus he could re-up for 3m or less. Move out Russell, Larsson etc. Edmonton shouldn't have too much trouble moving cap around.

1) he`s quite literally their best forward at this point, and only true goal scorer. and Mete has no real value, he's a 2nd rd pick at most, Tatar is good, but not Kane good.
2) for a team lacking D, they're going to trade away a young NHL roster D, and a 1st round pick. it's literally creating a bigger problem by addressing a smaller problem.
3) Byron produces, he's fine, and can slot up and down the lineup. Lehkonen will cost less than Smith and have more upside.

I think Lehkonen is underrated but a 2nd is good asset management for him. IMO he's the best of the 3 between Armia, Byron and him but also probably the most valuable and should get a chance to be a top 6 player elsehwere.

Yes very true I’m sure they could find a way to make work our cap situation improves in the 2021/22 season, but a second rd pick would be a none starter for Holland we already gave up this yrs and nexts second to get AA we not going 3 straight yrs with out a second rd pick, I like the player and think he’d fit in well in Edmonton but the frame work of the trade would have to be different maybe JP gets put in the deal but Montreal would need to take back about 2 mil to make it work cap wise this yr Chaisson 2.1 mil 1 yr left would work plus he’s Quebec born player I believe.

Montreal fans need to stop dumping Mete to SJ. We don't want him and we could probably get better return for Kane elsewhere if we wanted to trade him...which we don't

I doubt MTL is on Kane's 3 team list. Also, Sharks end up having a large cap hit than before the trade and it doesn't fill needs for them.

I'd do Kane for Domi 1 for 1.
