Hard pass on Matheson, way too much term to just upgrade a third to a second.

Sabres need Cozens more than they need Huberdeau.

Term is bad, but he would already be the second or third best defenseman on the team. Definitely an upgrade from Nemeth.

Huberdeau is nice, but Cozens should almost be considered untouchable by Buffalo. They desperately need both centers and young talent, and he’s both. After Cozens, there’s a huge drop off in prospects.

It’s 6 more years on a backloaded contract and even though he may be our third best defensemen I’d want no part of that contract. Guys getting that term should be core pieces on the team which he isn’t. I’d rather have that cap/roster spot open to acquire futures with short term dumps while leveraging GM’s financial constraints.

it’s hard to trade cozens for huberdeau because cozens could turn into a player just as good, if not better, than huberdeau (which is very likely)

Switch barkov and huberdeau as buf does need a centre but col has Kadri and huberdeau could slide nicely on the wing. Edit the trades a little bit cuz barkov>huberdeau but it could actually work nicely and start a proper rebuild with the prospects coming in. Just need to find a team that will take Matheson and yands

COL trade is close to fair value but the Avs in that case would want to swap Newhook for Byram in the trade, but ultimately probably don’t do because of cap reasons.

A pylon with a frowny face would have been better than half the Wings' D last year. Still no reason to take on a horrible contract for little value added.

Outside of Byram lesser pieces don't get you Barkov and the Huberdeau deal is meh Detroit declines we don't want an overpaid Matheson.
