I'm down for the Jets taking a chance on Kerfoot but no way should they trade Berdin for him.

Pretty bad when there needs to be retention on a guy who's already on a bargain contract.. Lol

Rakell > Kapanen

So if Kapanen = 15th overall, a roster player and an A prospect, then Rakell (without any silly retention) plus Jones = 15th overall, Holl and Liljegren

With that goalie tandem you wouldn't even sniff the playoffs.

Well I mean we all know Dubas ripped of Rutherford though, you can't deny that.

Call Rutherford maybe he has a 1st plus to trade for Rackell - I do agree that trade is nonsense

Explain why? Just for kicks, this package is a starting goalie for a blind backup goalie a middle 6 winger who has performed admirably with elite talent (Matthews, I'm sure Eichel fits that category) and 15 OA to move up 7 spots in a draft - Just so we are clear this is pretty terrible for TO

The value of the player and pick exchange is very reasonable, you are correct.
Buffalo does not need another LW so Johnsson does nothing for the team now nor the future
Andersen is great, but he is signed for one year and he will most likely go to another team that knows how to win.
Also Andersen's contract of $5,000,000 along with $3,400,000 of Johnsson is more than Kim will be willing to spend.
She needs to get her hair and nails done you know!
Buffalo would trade for players whose cap is larger than their actual salary, get more picks, or add players that fit into the lineup.
I hope this answers your queston.

Andersen is owed 1 million dollars for the season (bonus has been paid) Johnsson although has a cap hit of 3.4 is owed 2.6 million for each of the next 3 seasons - Kim would be paying a total of 3.6 million for a starting goalie and a F who has shown he keeps up just fine in a top 6 - I hope this answers your concerns

So to be completely clear Hutton is owed 2.75 and in this trade you are rid of a goalie who was terrible aquired a grand total of 3.6 million in actual dollars in a starter and F and fell to 7 spots in this draft - all of this has pegula written all over it

OK great, makes a lot of sense for the bottom line.
Anderson for one year is not worth moving down and Buffalo needs RW not LW.
I should not have brought cash into the picture and stayed with the players.
BTW Hutton a very bad stretch of 12 games in which he could not follow the puck.
Earlier in the year, he set a Sabre record for most saves to record a shut out.
Take out the eye issues, he was OK.
If Buffalo was a GK away from competing with the Leafs you are correct pull the trigger on this trade.
But they need at least 2 middle six right handed shooters, another center and a LHD, which one of those holes is filled by this trade?
None, this trade does not help Buffalo.
The 8th OA may do it next season, by then, Ullmark will be better and Luukkonen, Ukko-Pekka will be a year closer.
Trading away first round picks for the likes of Lehner and Kane put Buffalo in the hole that they are in.
IMO they need to stop doing that.

Cause they could potentially get a much more impactful player at 8th overall then 15th overall.

If you look at the actual value of picks, plus the value these players carry, it’s a really good deal for Buffalo imo. They are turning one pick into 2 NHL-quality pieces, and only moving down 7 spots, where the difference in quality isn’t anything TOO substantial. They can still hit a really good player. The actual base salary Buffalo has to pay here is low, and they become a more competitive team straight away.

It works for the Leafs because they shed these cap hits and score a chance to hit a prospect with the potential to make future contract decisions a little easier down the road.
