Leafs may have to toss a pick in as a sweetener for Cernak, but overall I like this roster.

If you have 4 second round picks you’re gunna need to give us our first back for Murray.

I’d settle for a 2nd but not from a team that has 5 picks in the first two rounds lol (in this scenario). Alternatively a second pick could entice Pittsburgh if you’re so unwilling to part with the PIT first

Hawks don't touch that. If you want Murphy, Nylander will be a part of the package or your give us your 1st round pick. We don't want Johnsson, Kerfoot, Holl or Anderson.

Leafs fans need to understand the other team's needs versus just dumping players to other teams to get back assets the Leafs need.

I can understand why the Hawks pass on that, but your not getting an elite scoring winger for a defensive defenceman. Hall for Larsson 2.0

You've come to the wrong place if your expectation is that everyone who posts one of these to evaluate the other teams needs in addition to their own.

I'm not a Leaf fan. I'm a Hawks fan. I would prefer to not do the Leafs/Hawks trade. I've seen worse Murphy trades out there, but this doesn't help the Hawks. Keep in mind that the Hawks drafted Justin Holl...guys that follow the Hawks prospects did keep track of him at MIN and when he was in the ECHL. A TON of respect is owed to him on how he's progressed with the opportunities given to him, BUT he's still a 28 year old rookie and while I do think he has the single best birthday of the year...I don't trust him on the Hawks because the area of MOST need for the hawks is RD...Losing our best RD isn't going to make them better. Also, while I do think Kerfoot is a fine #3C...we already have issues with too many centers. A lot of stuff would need to happen....and even if they did I still don't trust Holl on the right side yet.

If Andersen and Johnsson can get those picks the leafs would likely jump on it. I don't think Andersen gets more then a 2nd+3rd though and I think Johnsson only brings back a 3rd. Really hope Murray isn't our starter next year tbh.

Yes, because Leafs fans are the only people guilty of that on here...

I understand it wouldn't be Nylander for Murphy which is why I said "as part of a package" meaning Hawks would obviously add to it. Saad (retained) + Murphy + 3rd round pick for Nylander makes sense for both teams. Murphy is obviously a need, Saad would replace Nylander in the top 6 and while not the dynamic abilities of Nylander would bring a much better defensive two way game and a PP and more importantly a PK player.

No, it's not, but hopefully people learn a little bit and get better educated in the process.

They are not, but they are one of the worst offenders as a collective group mainly because of the sheer volume

Feel like that Andersen trade is the equivalent of getting full value on trading in a car that you put 100k miles on. Coming off a bad year, 1 yr left on his deal, 30 yrs old... I don't think the Leafs will be able to recoup basically the same assets they traded for him. I think one of those picks should get it done if you're SJ, and given the depth in the goalie market right now, probably the COL 2nd and not the 34OA. Plus they'd have to figure out what to do with the next 4 yrs of Jones before they can think about spending on a starting goalie.

So, 99.9% of the time I would agree with this....and it still might not even be this much in trade value, but I do think Dubas is creative enough to find a team (not SJS) that's budget constrained (Freddie's owed $1M for the 2020/2021 season now that his $4M signing bonus has already been paid by TOR) That would offer up more assets within this COVID environment than typical. It's still a business...AND I do think TOR would be wise to retain the last $1M. I know TOR fans would HATE that, but I do think Melnyk or AZ would pay up for a FREE Freddie Anderson for 1 year.

Agree. There's no way Johnsson nets a 2nd for a $3.4M player that was on pace for only 15 goals (playing next to Matthews mind you) and coming off a major injury in a flat cap world. Even for a 3rd, the Leafs might need to retain a little bit.

I think Anderson could net a (2) 2nds but on the other hand in this goalie rich offseason maybe only one 2nd rounder

Yeah his contract is definitely a plus for any team looking for a cheap stop-gap that has the cap space. I think the retained % is reflected in the salary split though - i.e. if the leafs retained 20% so his cap hit was $4m, they'd also be retaining 20% of his $1m salary, not the whole remaining $1m. Still, that's a really cheap actual cost to pay for a starting goalie.

I just can't see the Sharks ponying up and giving their top two picks for a year of Freddie but someone probably will give up a pick in that 35-55 range. Closest comp I can find would be when CGY gave STL the 35oa for a year of Brian Elliott but that was after he co-won the Jennings... Andersen coming off his worst statistical season in a market flush with starting goalies shouldn't command much but we'll see soon enough.
