If Kap got 15 I highly highly doubt Wilson accepts less and Same with deangelo, he’ll cost more

If these are starting points tho I see a lot of potential for both moves

I could see NJD moving both picks and keeping 7

nah I'd take that, 20th is a great pick for this year. Or to use as a trade piece.

Dunn is another player the Devils could target with their first round pick but idk if St.Louis would want to give him up

Even then, I don’t see Doug Wilson seeing Toronto’s return and thinking Labanc < Kap, he’ll ask more cause firstly he’s Doug Wilson lol but also I think if you get mid 20-31 (that was the gamble with Tampa at TDL) for Goodrow, you move Labanc for more, I’d venture the higher of the two picks and then a prospect NJD see expendable; just don’t see a world where Doug takes less

Do you think the Blues would accept Dunn and Steen for Arizona's first if they wanted one last chance to sign Pietro

Sorry considering Kapanen, I just dont find this deal to be enough. Sharks really dont want to move Labanc so we would need one more thing to push us over

well the Tampa case as was written, Doug clearly drew a line and said that he would not trade Goodrow unless it was a first, and BriseBois eventually decided to take the risk at the last moment. The Kapanen trade is just mind boggling, GMJR is insane. It doesn't make sense to expect other teams to do the same. Regardless, 20th overall for Labanc is a pretty damn good return.

I think that’s somewhat fair value for Labanc.

he had 53pts in 68 games. Even if hes only an offensive dman, thats still good production for a 24 year old

Yeah QB'ing a PP loaded with weapons. He wasn't very good in any of his other seasons and is already on his 3rd team. Guys a headcase and given the sensitive political climate i'm not sure a GM would be willing to bring that type of attitude into the locker room (for better or worse- not saying he shouldn't be allowed to express his views)

The issue is that trading Labanc ahead of next season does nothing to make the team better and 100% makes them worse. They'd also be selling him low for no apparent reason. Labanc is not headed for some huge contract or anything like that nor is he a surplus piece as literally the only RH shot in the forward group. Trading him for 20th overall just does nothing for the organization in the near term when the bulk of their core is in the latter stages of their window.

Trading a 24 year old for a future lottery ticket doesn't do a lot as its going to take at least 3-4 years for the player drafted at 20th to become the caliber that Labanc already is. At that point, the development of said player means nothing because we're in cap hell and our window is sealed shut so we're just biding time to then trade this young player for another haul of futures to start over from scratch in about 2027.

Trading Labanc isn't a no-go for me, but it has to make sense in a hockey deal, which this is not. If you're saying you can move Labanc for 20th overall and then have another deal in the works to get a middle 6 cost controlled RW and another piece for TB's 1st, then sure maybe I'm intrigued but it's a tough sell to try and compete in the near term and be selling off Labanc for a relatively late 1st rounder, no matter how good this draft is. Especially given the odds of replacing him without paying significantly more dollars is virtually impossible.

I mean unless you use that 1st to improve the prospect pool and then use the cap space to sign Dadonov and Fast

Tony D is a locker room cancer and a racist. I don't want him anywhere near this team.
