Potential MN Moves Based On Rumors

Created by: KoeberBrick
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2020
Published: Oct. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades:
- SJS has been rumored to be wanting Donato and Dubnyk, the money works better for SJS if MN retains salary
- OTT could use an upgrade on defense, if they pick a D-man at 5 it isn't a guarantee that he will make the roster. OTT also needs to get to the cap floor. MN is also desperate for a center.
- I think Turris and Zucc could use a change of scenery. Also Hartman could be of interest to NSH because of Paul Fenton. Zucc would have to waive his NMC. I've also read that NSH is looking to either buy Turris out or move him.

Notes:
- These likely need work but I think the main pieces of the trades make sense.
- I am also not positive Bjugstad will be healthy.
- I think Sturm will outplay Rask for the 4th line center roll
- Soucy needs more minutes to develope
- Its time to see what Belpedio is capable of, he will also require wavers this season

Labanc is better than Donato by quite a bit, and that isnt accounting for Dubynk. You should expect a return of maybe a third for the package, not a middle six 50 point player

Agreed, I think fair value at the moment is a 3rd for Donato. I wonder if SJS sees positive value for Dubs, which could go either way with retention. I would suggest COL 2020 2nd or Chvslmski and next years 3rd.

Can you talk about Tierney? I think this return is more than they could get elsewhere for Dumba so I’m interested.

Terrible for SJ. If you get something back it will be Sorensen or a third.

He’s a set up guy will get a ton of assists and do his job, he gets his points quietly. He’s a 45-50 pts low end 2C or great 3C. Still young

I wouldn't expect much, a 3rd might be it indeed. Guerin likely moves Donato to give him a chance that he never got in Minnesota and trading Dubnyk is addition by subtraction. Simply moves to create roster flexibility.

We would accept, but not with that condition. There's no guarantee we acquire another 1st next year and there's no way we're even letting there be a chance of giving up our own 1st

Didn’t read the condition my bad, it’s kinda tough to consider it. I’d add a decent prospect and remove the condition.

I'd like to see Donato get a chance somewhere. 4th line/pressbox isn't doing him or the team any good.

San Jose declines their trade. Labanc is frankly what you hope Donato becomes. And they need more solid roster players, not swapping one out for a lesser one.

Minnesota declines the Ottawa trade. Tierney doesn't provide anything we don't already have. He also doesn't currently have a contract. A late 1st isn't that enticing as the only real high quality piece for Dumba.

Minnesota declines the Nashville trade. Zuccarello for Turris? Maybe? I still doubt it, but I can assure you it's not getting done when including Hartman for a 3rd.

Does OTT?

I dont think Dumba fits the rebuild at all.

I dont hate losing any of those pieces, but Dumba would not be my target

Sharks decline this all day. Chmelevski for Donato is a massive win for Minnesota, also utterly foolish for SJ. I wouldnt pay more than a 3rd and true for the Donato Dubnyk package but if i am being blunt, i want nothing to do with neither of them.

As others have said, the double Ds don’t get you close to Labanc. I’m thinking Gambrell for Donato and Dubnyk at 50%.

Regarding Dubnyk, he only makes 2.5 mil this year so he’s valuable for contract alone. I wouldn’t ruin a return on a trade with dubs, he either adds value or we buy him out. I think that’s why teams are interested even though he’s outta gas.

If you don’t hate losing any of those pieces then it’s probably not enough for Dumba.
