I have to think this is around the price point that an OEL to VAN deal would look like. Eriksson has to be involved to make the cap work, especially if there’s no retention on OEL (and I highly doubt ARZ would retain unless a team overpays in futures). So it would likely be a 1st, one of Juolevi or Rathbone, another mid-round pick and Loui coming from the Canucks. The question would be if it’s the smart play long term for VAN.

Van should not give up a 1st, doesnt need to. AZ is the one desperately trying to unload this and theres only literally on two teams on the list of places he will go. OJ/Sutter and a 3rd for OEL with 2mil retained a year. Thats the deal.

They won’t want any salary retained let alone 2m for 5/6 years. It’s Arizona they can’t afford that financially and in terms of a cap hit as well

I get that ARZ may want to unload OEL’s expensive contract, but I really doubt they retain any salary in a deal unless a team overpays for that.

Also consider that it would likely cost the Canucks a 1st+ if they wanted to shed Eriksson’s contract without taking cap back. When you factor that in then our two offers aren’t that far apart really.
