Why would Detroit want an injury prone 1C at this point of the rebuild?

If he's healthy and the cap went up, sure.

eta: this year, Buffalo and Minnesota might take a swing. Maybe, just maybe Calgary or Winnipeg, but maybe not. Outside chance that L.A. or Arizona get in on it.

Nah not giving up young assets for an aging injury pronged Centerman like Steven Stamkos.

If Tampa is desperate to shed Salary, yes. Taking contracts on though would mean signing them, dont think Tampa would want that. Probably seeking picks for him, and Detroit shouldnt be giving up a 1st for him.

As a fellow Wings fan I'm going to say put down the Kool-Aid because I'm pretty sure it's Ethylene Glycol. Trading 4 assets for a player that will probably be retired by the time the wing are ready to contend.

14 other teams don't have cap space to do anything.

TB should move him. But not to DET where I don't think he'd go.
I wouldn't expect a huge return if I was TB. 30, injury prone. bad market to take cap dumps.
But no doubt a team like CBJ or BUF would kick the tires at a low price.

Hes not injury prone for starters hes just had really bad injuries. Plenty of teams would be all over him, hes one of the best goal scorers in the league

1st of all, he's injury prone.
2nd of all, Teams don't have 8 million in cap space and it's really hard to come by cap space right now.
3rd you aren't in any position to demand an arm and a leg.

This year he missed the last 13 games. Over the previous 2 season he missed 4. In 16/17 he missed a majority of the season due to knee surgery. In the 2 swasons prior to that he missed a total of 5 games. In 13/1r Stammer broke his leg. Prior to that in the entirety of his first 5 seasons he missed 3 games, all in his rookie year. That sounds like someone who has had some bad luck from sever unrelated injuries nut none were related. Crosby is twice as injury prone as Stamkos.

There are a lot of teams that will definitely make room for an 8M top tier 1C.

Arent in any position to make demands? Were talking about a franchise level talent here. You dont want to pay up go away. Just because hes not 100 unavailable doesn't mean he is part of a freaking fire sale. He wont be sold for scraps.

Injury's aside. Stamkos is their captain and signed with them with a full NMC so even if Tampa was to trade him HE controls where he goes and would not want to go to a rebuilding team.
