It would be disappointing considering that they sold low on Nutivaara and Murray because they targeted a UFA, but in my opinion it's better than status quo.

I don't think they would be. They could likely have Korp and Elvis for the same price as Fleury. Adding that first round pick probably isn't ideal for them either, they're doing Vegas a solid favour.

I think they could get more out of VGK than just the 1st -- and there would need to be retention involved. The entire league turned down Fleury + 2nd for free.

But VGK have come out and said that Lehner/Fleury will be their tandem next season. So the cost cutting will need to be from elsewhere.

I like the idea, but as it's said above...get more out of VGK or let them pay their two goalies 12 mill AAV

Not a bad idea, but you should add another solid asset to this, MAF's value is negative, so you should still have to give up something for Korpisalo, here you only have enough value to dump fluery if I had to guess.

That's my point -- Fleury/Lehner and signing Pietrangelo requires Las Vegas to trade not only Schmidt but someone else, too. It just seems an awful strategy.

I agree. Pietrangelo is unnecessary -- their biggest need was/still is a no. 1 center.

The best part about this is that when I floated the idea of Fleury to Ottawa with a first a month ago, two outraged Las Vegas supporters said that LV wouldn't have to pay to get rid of him. Now the Golden Knights can't give him away and signing Pietrangelo means not only giving up Schmidt but someone else, too.

If Las Vegas had made this trade (or a reasonable facsimile thereof), they could have signed Pietrangelo AND kept Schmidt, which would have given them a much better team than they have now. They're already over the cap and have only 12 forwards signed.

Columbus isn't gonna do this. The only thing that'll get Jarmo to trade one of our goalies is a legit top-6 scoring winger, like Tuch. (Now, grain of salt, because outside of the Domi deal, NOTHING Jarmo has done has matched up with common sense over the last week. So who the heck knows, truly.)

Thanks. It's nice to get input and insight from an actual Blue Jackets fan.

Vegas needed William Karlsson and a 1st to take Clarkson in the expansion draft.... I don’t see Jarmo or anyone else doing them any favors unless they’re willing to pony up.

Thanks! I was waiting to hear from you. You don't think a very late first is enough? Would adding Jake Leschyshyn to the package work?

Maybe, depends on how high Columbus or said team is on him, personally I’d be asking for Krebs.

I thought that too, that's how funny this is. But some insiders said the cost to dump him at full price would be a first, that's what I'm going by.
