First off pretty sure its just a negotiating tactic and Gally will sign. Second for a trade and sign it would cost a lot more. Third if all Gallagher is asking for is 5.5 million then the extension would have already happened, his agent is probably asking for 7+

Gallagher is willing to have a 7/8 years contract. Everyone expected between 5.875/6,450 pr yr, but only the agent know this (okay )

he turns 29 in May. Can his style of play hold up? it really depends on lingering or future injuries. He should have limited issues until age 34. many "rougher" players start going downhill around age 32. He is a smaller frame. I really like the 4 signings so far. A solid back up, a rugged d-man, a power forward and a sniper. It is a fantastic Christmas list. All at reasonable prices too. How does Berge, get Tuna, Gally, Danault under contract. Those are the main ones but there are others. The salary cap might be the undoing. No question he wants to keep them all, but should he not be able to, he will get more good picks in return.
